Hi, has anyone sailed on the Westerdaam?
We are planning a back to back next Jan/07
any advice re the back to back? Best cabin area?

First of all, welcome to CLF!!

I've not been on the Westerdam, but possibly I can help you as I have researched this for our upcoming Noordam transatlantic. You don't say what type of cabin you are interested. As you know, most of the cabins on the Westerdam are at least a balcony. But as you may notice as you look at the deck plans not all cabins are the same size or have the same sized balconies.

Assuming you want a balcony, you have 2 options regardless of whether you book a regular veranda (VA-VF) cabin or a Suite (SA-SC). The cabins on the Aft of the ship are cantilevered and sport the largest balconies, but they are not covered as those are on the side of the ship and not as private. Maybe if you'd let us CLF HAL cruisers know your preferences, we could help you more.

Mugsy, I have sailed on the Westerdam. Not sure what type of information you want. Some general info would be that the food was good, maybe a little better in the speciality restuarant, the staff and crew were pleasant and easy to deal with, there were kids on the ship (New Years Eve cruise) but not a lot.
The ship itself was nicely decorated but probably more formal in some aspects. Most passengers seemed to dress up a bit more each night than on some other lines I've been on. The Piano Bar was a popular spot for most passengers. I did not attend any shows so I can't help you there.

Yes I have sailed B2B on the Westerdam out of FLL. I will agree with all the positive comments of the other posters.

I can add the shows were absolutely wonderful. The mattresses, linens, and bathrobes are the best of any cruise line that I have been on. Any Questions just ask.
