Thread: 20 day Med cruise

We are taking a 20 day cruise to the Eastern and Western Med on the MS Westerdam of HAL and we are trying to do some research before we go - leaving Rome on May 30, 2007. First we would like to know if it is best to book the shore tours offered by HAL or are there other alternatives? Second we want to get a balcony (verandah) room and wonder which is the best (price should be in the mid range)? Finally we would like to know the opinions of people who took this cruise at this time of year and what we should not miss? Also if anyone is taking the same cruise please let us know.

The best place to get advice for that type of a cruise is either on a rollcall for it (see the rollcall section) or in the Port of call section...you can get great tips on private guides, see things you might have missed, and very often save A LOT of money, rather than doing the ship's shore excursions. Just remember to plan some extra time...the one true advantage of ship's excursions is that they won't leave without ya'...but with a little research and planning, that shouldn't be an issue.
