    Cool volendam jan.22/06

I posted an early roll call back in August as this is my first cruise and I was excited. To date no one has responded. Am I the only one going on this cruise from this forum ? Is anyone out there ?

I'm sure someone is out there!!!! But if this makes you feel any better, the Volendam is a beautiful ship. She's one of my favorites...we have sailed on her 3 times, and have never been disappointed. And HAL has done some hiring in the chef's department -- the meals were better than ever. Really delicious. Take the ship's galley tour. It's interesting. Shows were good and the crew is great. You will have a great time, and you really won't be alone! And the new bedding is like sleeping on a cloud.

Thanks for your response. We will be stopping in Aruba, caraco(may be misspelled)St.Thomas and Dominica. Did you go to any of those places? Any suggestion around what to do or see? Can you give me an idea of what the dinners are like? We have a late seating btwn 8-8:30. I heard the volendam was going into drydock sometime in Dec, did you hear anything? Any concerns about your stay on the volendam, anything I should be aware of or watch out for? What activities did you enjoy or not enjoy? How about the evening shows? I'd appreciate any info you could provide about any aspect of the trip. If you've got the time... If not,I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thank you.

I loved it. Although the seas were quite rough and I got sea sick. I used to be in the naval reserve! Many of the staff also felt ill. The food and people I met were great. I have nothing to compare my cruise to as this was my first one. Would I cruise again.....in a heartbeat. Hope you also had an enjoyable time. sorry It has taken so long to get back to you. I didn't return from vacation until recently. Take care.

Taylor - I'm so glad you enjoyed your Volendam voyage. She is my favorite ship and I knew you would have a great time. My other favorite is the Coral Princess. I enjoy Princess cruising. A little more lively than the Volendam, and always a good time. But every now and then I need the little touch of elegance you get from the Volendam.
