    Vision Drydock Enhancements
I just spent the day onboard the Vision and while onboard I had the chance to speak to some of the officers regarding the upcoming drydock in Jan.
During the 10 day drydock from Jan. 2-12 the Vision will get a partial makeover with the addition of Chops or Portofino.. The now under utilized Showboat Lounge will become an alternative restaurant. The ship wasn't sure whether it would be Chops or Portofino, although more than a few onboard said Chops. Additionally, they are adding a retractable screen to the Some Enchasted Evening Lounge that will be lowered during the day to show full length feature films. There's also talk of turning the C&A Study into a Concierge Lounge, but this was not confirmed while onboard. The remainder of the work will be mechanical/structural.. painting etc.. of course any cosmetic items will also be addressed... new carpets/upolstry, replacing worn out cabn furniture. In fact some of the JS, GS and OS cabins had already been furnished with new furniture and looked very nice.

You know Mike as my wife and I were taking our morning walk this morning we talked about the "Vision Class" ships as a whole.........the Vision is no different than the Rhapsody........but the ship is very friendly from the captain on down...........I think that is reflected in the attitude of the ship and how it makes you feel..........and there is a difference when you don't have 90% Texans on a cruise..........not that that is bad.......but there is a definete Texas feel to the Rhapsody I'm sure you would agree.

WE WILL go on the Vision again.........just working it in to the cruise schedule

Thanks for the update on the Vision. We sailed on her two weeks ago. She is a beautiful ship--has lots of character.

They used the conference room for upholstering some furniture while we were sailing. They also replaced some of the carpet. People had to move their stuff out for a couple of hours. It was really quite amazing how much they could do in an afternoon.

Aw, the Showboat lounge was one of our favorite spots on the ship. (And Rudy and Jacqui's too!) haha...

I'm sure what ever they do will be fabulous. I can't wait to sail on the vision again!

Jodi-- the Vision and Rhapsody's plans for stretching have been abandoned by RCI.. it seems the French build their ships differently than the Fins and it would be too costly and complicated to cut these 2 ships.

When we were on board the Vision the hotel director told us that they would not be adding a specialty restaurant. He said that it had originally been in the plans to do so but it was so costly (I think he said 3 million), and the revenue from them has not been up, that they decided not to do it. We were onboard Oct 23. So we'll see....The Vision is our favorite ship!!!
    Upcoming cruise:
Avalon Luminary 4/28/12, with time in Amsterdam and Paris before and after
