Vision of the Seas Alaska Cruise departure pier

Would one of y'all be so kind as so tell me from what pier in Seattle the Alaska cruises depart? Would like to book a hotel relatively close to the departure point.

If this is an incredibly stupid question, please pardon me. This will be my first visit to Seattle (and first Alaskan cruise -- second cruise period).

(Am still trying to come to grips with the no liquor policy. Jeez, Louise. Take away all the fun, why don't they. If they confiscate my other mode of personal relaxation, I may just have to jump ship.)

I do have a couple other very simple quesitons but don't want to sound like a complete doofus. (Not all at once, anyway.)

    Much obliged.

It is a very good question.

At this time it does not seem to be decided where the Vision will be for the 2007 Season. The Port of Seattle website lists the location of every other ship but not the Vision.

Last year the Vision used Terminal 30 on Friday while the Mercury was at Pier 66.
This year the Mercury will be in Vancouver, opening up the berth at 66.

I suspect that the Vision will end up at Pier 66.

Either way, there are no hotels within a mile of Terminal 30.

Both the Edgewater and the Marriott Waterfront are located at Pier 66. There are a number of hotels in the area of the Seattle Center/South Lake Uniion not far away. some of them have shuttles to the dock.

Many thanks, Blizzard and Hanna. Very helpful info. My other two questions were whether the junior suites on the Vision have in-cabin safes and whether they have robes.

    Thanks again.

Hi there CJ. I can't help you on the safe question, but unless you are a repeater on RC, you won't see a robe. Many of the JS cabins on the ships I have been on do have a safe but not sure about your ship.

    another question or 2..
What is the name of the airport and how far is it from the cruise terminal in Seattle?
Which of the closest motel/hotel would you recommend?
In the month of June what is the rate for rooms?
When we do our bookings I want a nice place to stay over night and after our cruise we are thinking about staying over an extra night and do some sight seeing.
Any good ideas for the Georgia girls to see and do?

Thanks for any help....never been to Seattle so I know nothing and help I would appreciate it.

The airport is Seatac code SEA. The airport is about 15 miles from the Pier 66 cruise terminal.

As I mentioned, the closest hotels, both very nice, are the Edgewater and Marriott Waterfront. they are also a bit pricey. I did some checking and the Edgewater is sold out every Thursday night in June. I found a room availabe at the Marriott for $329/night.... There are a lot of nice hotels/motels by the Seattle Center/South Lake Union area. I will work on putting together a list for the Seattle Port section. Almost all the major chains have locations at South Union.

There are safes in the rooms.
I too am not sure about robes in JR's.
We get them because of our C&A status.
It never hurts to ask your cabin steward, they are usually very happy to grant requests.

I have another question for anyone that can help me...
I don't know anything about RCI and mostly certainly nothing about Alaska and fishing.

So, can you book a fishing excursion off the ship Visions of the Sea or are they separate bookings?
One of our group wants to go fishing but I haven't seen anything about booking one from the ships.
She saw a brochure with someone holding a BIG fish so she wants to go fishing....
    Thanks if anyone can help.

CJKeys, I was on the Rhapsody in a JS and we did not get robes. However, I think someone on that cruise asked their steward and they got some. You could try that.

Georgia, RCCL has fishing excursions in both Ketchikan and Sitka. None of these are cheap, but these could be once in a lifetime opportunities. In Sitka, you can go Halibut fishing or Sportfishing. In Ketchikan, you can go Salmon fishing or go on an excuriosn where you fish and then dine on your catch. There may be other excurision from these ports, but that is what they had when I last did research.

Here is a link to all the excursions RCCL has in Alaska. You'll need to check the ports in your particular itinerary.
Alaska Ports - Royal Caribbean International

For excursions not through RC, Bunti and Alisa (jstducky) probably have info or contacts who do. If they don't turn up on this thread soon, you could PM them. Both of them love to talk about Alaska, and you would be in good hands.
