Which port does the Vision sail out of, San Pedro or Long Beach?
Do you have any hotel recommendations?
How far is LAX to the port, and aprox taxi costs?

Hi angie... San Pedro is the answer to your first question Long Beach is used only for Carnival Corp Brands..
The mileage is misleading depending on time of day it can be an ordeal transportation is a blip here with all the cars what should be a 30 minute drive can easily turn into a two hour nightmare at the drop of a hub cap.... its approximately a 30 dollar cab ride from the airport to the pier. Some use a shuttle service like PrimeTime shuttle
Also Check out Supershuttle
Check them out and see if that might work...
As far as a hotel recommendation.. I always like to have people stay in Long Beach.. I personally prefer the pine street experience in the evening . However I hear the holiday inn at the pier in San Pedro does a fine job of hosting both pre and post cruise stays.
Also you may want to consider flying into Long Beach airport if you have that option
Good luck....

Joey...thanks for the info, I will look into all you have listed.
Is there any particular hotels on Pine St. that you prefer?
Are the taxi rates set like at Miami or is it variable?
We fly AA and they take us to Seattle then to LB in 14 hours...I think we will stick to LAX direct flight little over 3 hours

do you have jet blue? they also fly Long beach..
Hotels are on Ocean Blvd.. Hyatt is nice as always
Taxi rates are metered. There is a rate for every 1/4 mile you travel, plus additional rates for the number of minutes you're in the cab.
I think cab fare from LAX down to Long Beach... you can expect it to be in the $40-$50 range.

So far it sounds like one of the shuttles would be the way to goOriginally Posted by jstducky

Cindy -- I agree. Shuttle is definitely the best and cheapest way to get from LAX to Long Beach.
Taxi's are just too expensive for the distance and amount of time. With a shuttle, the amount you pay is fixed ahead of time.

bummer...long beach is slowly admitting more carriers as LAX gets overwehlmed.... the new thing at Bob Hope airport and LAX is valet parking 38 bucks a day .. how famous do you wanna be
Also, you don't have to reserve a Super Shuttle from LAX...when you've landed and collected you luggage, you can go out to the shuttle pick up area and one of the attendants (who are there 24/7) will help you for the arrangements for taking a shuttle to the pier....very easy!
