Thread: veendam dec 9-16, any of snorklers?

hi,
heading 2 belize aboard the veendam.
Anyone on this message board like 2 snorkel?
Have spots picked out 4 belize and costa maya, can anyone help with Guatamala port that's considered an industrail port, only thing i'm finding is the ruins, all htought they are ok, I want 2 snorkel if possible. can anyone help with this port?

We are not taking that exact cruise, but will be visiting those same ports a week later during our Christmas cruise on the Volendam. We were on the Veendam last November, she is definately my favorite "S" class vessel!
I also love snorkeling, and would love to compare notes with you. As of yet, HAL shore excursions site has no listings for Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan on thewir website for our cruise.
There has been talk of problems in Guatemala as far as escalated attacks on foreigners. I can't help but wonder if HAL might change that port for the passengers safety.

I have snorkeled in cozumel @ a local spot called playa ouva, right off the beach. 10.00 cab ride
There is a really cool shop as well as a resturant/bar at the entrance that has great stuff and can bargain with the people working there, got some good deals.
they serve on the beach with provided tables with umbrellas, they also have bed like things on the beach 2 sun on.
The snorkling is decent, not spectacular, but still a good time and worth going 2 enjoy the scenery.
We were there last dec.

I'm going 2 belize,costa maya, cozumel and guatamala in dec. and will definately hit playa ouva again.
the other places will be new 4 us.
So I'll have 2 report later on those ports.
Actually, I'll b fine if the ship skips guatamala, from what I'm hearing and reading, it's not worth stopping in anyway, atleast not until they get some other things besides the ruins.
