The train from Seattle is great. I've done it several tyimes and the scenery is marvelous, right along the water much of the way. I actually saw more bald eagles on those trips than in Alaska.

One way fare for the approximately 4 hour trip is about $25.00

Yes, Amtrak provides the service from Seattle to Vancouver.
The train leaves Seattle about 8AM daily and returns to Seattle
at about 9PM. They also provide several bus connections daily between Seattle and Vancouver.

I'm already sending out some feelers on hotels for pre and post cruise stays, tours and transfers. We could possibly get a better deal on a package including hotels and transfers, I know it would be better than what the cruise line offers, they're a joke.

I don't necessarily care if it is round trip or not. Since you can get one way fares pretty cheap on Southwest it doesn't matter if you have the same return city. You get the same cheap pricing either way. Or you can do a multiple city too. If it floats my boat though I will go for it.

There's always an exception to just about every rule.

Southwest is definitely one of them.

Do they have a frequent flyer club?

Well for us...we will fly into Vancouver and leave from Vancouver...and if we can afford a couple of days to see other places then we will be delighted...if not ...then I wont stress about it.....with such a long flight/flights...from the UK then we will need day to recover anyway..and then day to see bit of Vancouver.....after all the purpose of our trip to Vancover is to join our Group on the Serenade to Alaska....if I win on the lottery before then ...well thats a different matter

Liz I am all up for winning the lottery before going. If we could just have that happen to each of us.

I do plan to go to Seattle first since I have a daughter there. I do also want to spend time in Vancouver. I look forward to exploring it. Why go all the way and not enjoy right? Of course we have half the flying you do.
