Can anyone suggest a hotel/motel close to the Ballantyne Pier in Vancouver? I am trying to find one fairly close to the pier but not too pricy. We will be there two days before our cruise to Alaska so wanted something where we could walk around to different places. Any suggestions?
There are lots of hotels near the cruise piers, most of them closer to the Canada Place pier, but the 2 piers aren't very far apart. Reasonably priced is a relative term in Vancouver. Downtown accomodation is pricey....even the Hampton Inn is listed at over $200 a night. However, there are lots of restaurants and shopping in the area. If you want some more detailed info, maybe you should send a private message to bs outwest who lives not far from Vancouver.
Here is a website that has a lot of good info on Vancouver, and gives pretty good specials on hotels. Even though you'll be going out of Ballentyne, I recommend that you stay closer to Canada Place, as there are so many more activities there. We used this website to get a 5-star hotel (Sutton Place) for $135 a night. Good luck and have fun in Vancouver. It's a great city!

I did a bit of online research for the Vancouver hotels at online booking services and trip review sights.
I found quite a few that I was interested in.... but because there is a big regatta and a rock concert in town the night before our cruise.... nothing was available under the $250 price range in the down town area...
So we went with plan be and booked the 4 Points Sheraton near the airport. We wont get to experience as much of Vancouver as we like, but we aren't getting in until 9 PM anyway.
Try Hotels.com and tripadvisor.com or even travelocity or orbitz.

Don't book any hotel close to Ballyntine Pier, not a great part of town. Look into the downtown core or even the Burnaby area and take a cab to the pier. There is no good walking around area's near that pier....
Contact me by pm if I can help some more..

Good advise. I would not want to be staying anywhere close to Ballyntine. It is very much worth the cost of a cab not to be there.
