Ports on the West Coast?

Where are the major ports on the west coast? I know a friend of mine sailed out of somewhere in California for his Alaskan cruise, but can't remember where???

Seattle has more than 30 cruise lines calling on it's port. There are ports in San Francisco,
Los Angeles and San Diego.

Alaskan cruises start in San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver BC, Whittier and Seward.

As I recall the line up is something like this:

San Francisco: Celebrity
Seattle: Celebrity, NCL, Princess and HAL
Vancouver: Celebrity, RCL, NCL, Princess, Carnival and HAL
Whittier: Carnival and Princess
Seward: RCL, NCL and HAL

I could be missing some... this is from memory

Every now and then, ships will sail out of LA or SF for Alaska, but these are usually repositioning cruises, where they end up in Vancouver or Seattle.

For the "Mexican Riviera", the main ports are LA and San Diego, in the US and Ensenada (just across the border) in Mexico.
For Alaska, it's Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada, and Seattle in the US.
For Hawaii, ships depart from LA, San Diego, Ensenada, Vancouver, and sometimes San Francisco.

There are two different kinds of Alaskan cruises: the one-way and the round trip. I think most of the round trips start in Seattle, SF, or Vancouver.

It is always a great experience.

I have found that sailing under any bridge is a treat.
There are only a few ports that you can do this.
I have also sailed under the Varizanno (sp) in New York, the Lyons Gate in Vancouver and the Bridge of the Americas in Panama.

I once flew a kite off the back of a ship while sailing under the Varisanno
