Thumbs up Port of Baltimore - awesome news!!

New Baltimore Cruise Terminal

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maryland's Port of Baltimore is very excited about the opening of our
new dedicated cruise terminal for the beginning of the 2006 season.
Plans have been moving forward and we should be breaking ground on the
new facility shortly. This new facility will have easy access to I-95
as well as marquee visibility for ships while in port. The design also
calls for the parking lot to be adjacent to the Passenger Building,
there fore there will not be any shuttle service needed for our
passengers.

At this time, Royal Caribbean has begun selling their 2006 schedule out
of Baltimore. They will be offering 9-night Caribbean Cruises and
5-night Bermuda Cruises from May through November 2006. We also expect
to have a few Celebrity Cruises onboard the Constellation for the fall
of 2006; however we do not have definitive dates at this time. Some of
the other cruise lines have shown interest in the new terminal, however
at this time we do not have any requests from any other lines. If you
are interested in these cruises please contact your travel agent or
Royal Caribbean for pricing information and availability, the Port of
Baltimore cannot book your cruise for you.

Again, thank you for your interest in Cruise Maryland at Baltimore. If
you need more information, please do not hesitate to call me,
410-385-4836.

I am hoping Norfolk will do the same. Then we in the mid-Atlantic can get some really good deals and competition and also avoid the flights.

This really is wonderful news. Once ships started sailing out of Galveston, it really helped that town's economy. And then the better restaurants started coming in. I know that this will be great for Baltimore.

I have a flyer right here for the Grandeur sailing out of Baltimore...I wouldn't mind trying this...I could care less about Miami, but the other ports look cool...It is a quick flight and cheap one at that from Manchester to BWI.I just wish there were better ones out of Boston...I personally would like to see bigger ships there...and more than a New England Foliage cruise...and Bermuda.

Someday, we will do a Bermuda when there is another option out of Boston.

This is good news. I love Balitmore mainly for the fantastic food.

Baltimore cruising

I second the motion on Baltimore food, having lived there for several years. I loved Little Italy, the Inner Harbor and steamed Chesapeake blue crabs at non-pretentious crab houses. There is an Italian restaurant out near BWI that has crabcakes to die for...The Aquarium is excellent, Fort McHenry is close to the harbor, the Constellation is there...it's a great visit.

I live in Maryland and close to the terminal, maybe 25 mins away tops, under good driving conditions. I sailed out of Baltimore in June 2005 and it was awesome. The staff there is so smooth, they know their stuff. Was onboard in minutes. I am so glad that Celebrity ships may be coming in this fall. That gives me something to look forward too.

Got my Cruise Travel Magazine a few days ago and there is a feature article on the port of Norfolk........that appears to be an up and coming port as well.

The newly remodeled Baltimore erminal for Royal Caribbean is great. I had the chance to go there and it really is nice. For anyone considering a cruise out of Baltimore, all I can say is "Do it".

And speaking from experience, doing the set sail pass online is great. It really shortens your time at the counter, all you have to give them is your printed out set sail form, your passport and credit card and zoom you get your sea pass card and are on the ship before you can say cheese for the camera!

And I also had the pleasure of sailing out of Cape Liberty last year too and it was quick and oh so painless. Just a 2 1/2 hr drive to NJ and away we went.

Baltimore is such a great town to spend time in: there is the obvious Inner Harbor stuff, and then all the fabulous restaurants in Little Italy, galleries and little shops in Fells Point. So glad it is getting ships to come! Wish we were back there now!
