It's a Phoenix on St Paul's Cathedral. It say's Resergum and is a reference to the great fire of London in 1666.

Yes it's really something. I had seen it years ago and it was dull and lifeless. It really looks something since it's been restored.

I've only had the opportunity to visit London twice so barely scratched the surface of all there is to see and do there. One of the few big cities I actually enjoy, not a fan of big cities. Rather be out in the country side.

I saw a bit of the countryside when we were in England in 08 but I fell in love with London. England is so different from the States. As we were flying in we could see all the small farms. Here everything is large mega-acre farms.

    For countryside I recommend Lancashire

The trough of Bowland is well worth a visit most of it is owned by 2 people, the Queen (through the Duchy of Lancaster) and the Duke of Westminster.

Heard an interesting article on the radio a few days ago. It seems that the Royal Family brought in more in tourist dollars than was spent on them. Not bad!
