    English Heritage - Shugborough Manor

Monday 6June 2011 we had a day trip from our home town to Shugborough Manor. It is an estate that was owned by the Earls of Litchfield, but now taken over by the National Trust.. It was a visit our local church had arranged. Char said she would like to see the photos, so you have been warned. You will be seeing a little of English Heritage.

We live in the roughly the centre of England and Shugbough is about 50 miles away between us and Manchester.

Have been round Stately Homes before, knowing not too much about where we were going to, only heard of it when we knew we were going. You have to imagine you are in the 19 Th Century, and people are in costumes of that period.

We arrived around 11:30 and had to go to the reception to get our tickets, Admitted the map is not too clear but I have highlighted the main places we visited.

Inside the farm house, various rooms table set for tea but we weren't invited.

Please remember we are supposed to be in 1805.

A view of some of the fashions of the day.

You were also really potty trained in those days, and when I and many others were young.

A view of the farmyard and pets corner from a window, and also a collection of spinning wheels, which were common in them days.

Memories come flooding back as I can still remember jam being made and paper tied with an elastic band or string covering the top of the jars.

Diane took an attraction to a character we saw.

The miller is busy grinding brown flour. A machine nearby was used for white flour.
