But this was about beer? If you order a Budweiser, you might get a Czech beer with that original name, but American Bud is also coming on strong there (and that my friends is a shame).
The Czech version is known as Budvar and is generally less available than Budwesier. They are both are mostly sold in bottles, though you do find the odd place that has Budwesier on tap.

To be simplistic, we have bitter, lager, stout and cider. Bitter (or beer) is darker and is not chilled. When it is be 'pulled' rather than served from an electric pump it is often referred to as 'real ale'. Lager is paler and is available on tap or in bottles. Stout (Guiness, Murphys etc) is often available now as 'normal' or 'extra cold' - a well pulled glass should have no bubbles in the creamy head. Cider (apple based) can be dry or sweet and some can be very strong.

YOU HAVE TO BE 18 TO DRINK ALCOHOL IN A PUB!!!!!!!!!

Different pubs have different entry rules. Some allow children, some don't, and some are in between (eg. in food areas but not in the bar). Some only allow over 16s or over 21s. But only those aged 18 or more can drink alcohol in a pub. It will cost the licencee his licence, fines etc if an underage person is found drinking alcohol in a pub. The law for 16 and 17 year olds consuming beer, wine or cider when dining is slightly different but you would be well advised to check before ordering them anything.

My Dad was one to really get on your case if you said "I need to go to the bathroom" He would ask "Do you need a bath?" Then if you asked to go to the rest room he would say do you need to rest. He made his point enough that when I am out of the country I make a point to ask what room I really want. In the US I just ask for the Ladies room.

Living near Boston they really push the different ale's thy have at the different seasons. Amazing the different ones. We do have some local breweries here too that you can order a sample. They are probable about a half pint worth of about 8 different flavors. Something to share.

good information; thank you! With the beer available in UK, it is truly the "odd" place that has Bud on tap! (and quite sad)

You will love it! Just don't assume that if it is that way here, it is going to be just like it over there!

I used up the last of the deodorant that I purchased over there. It lasted far longer than the US deodorants, worked as well, and after I got used to it, I began to enjoy the base smell- totally different from the bases used in the US.

Only question now is how do I get more?

Boots store brand, unscented! Great stuff! (The TSA police took mine away as we were leaving Dallas saying that Sure unscented is a dangerous weapon) I had to get replacement deodorant and toothpaste in London.)
