Oh, wow, Jim -

you are a sweetie!

And I think you deserve one for bringing your nice friend in to meet us crazies!

But I have to spread it around first

I'll get back to you at some point....

Hi Jim, We went to London last year and stayed at the Holiday Inn London-Kensington Forum. It was a very nice hi-rise holiday inn just 2 blocks from the subway. At the corner where the subway is, there is a 24 hr. food market (great for bottled water, fresh fruit, snacks, etc) as well as several restaurants. Here's a link: http://www.london-kensingtonforum.holiday-inn.com/

I almost forgot to add...at the same corner, you can get the Big Bus tour....very touristy but a great way to see the city! http://www.bigbus.co.uk/uk/html/uk_home.html

Is that the one with the double-decker buses?

We were on a grey-hound type bus... very comfy. But, even that got old after a few days...

Yes...it's the red double decker bus with the open roof. We just did it for 1 day....you pick a route and then you can get off at any location (we got off to see Big Ben) and get back on another one when you're done and head over to another location (then we got off at London Tower) and so on until the day is over....it was a great way to get around and see alot of the city -- the tube is cheaper but you're underground and you can't see anything but tunnels. It's also much cheaper than hiring a cab. There are several different routes and along the way, you can listen to the tour operator. I would highly recommend it for a first visit to London.

Jim, I stayed in the Bloomsbury area on one trip, and closer to Oxford Circle the second time. Both areas were good - close to the underground, close to Food!

Welcome Don!
