Thumbs up What to See In Istanbul and Turkey (Video + Stills)

My film "What the Sultan Saw” highlights the history of Turkey & Constantinople/Istanbul, featuring the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires plus modern Turkey.

This tour of western and central Turkey stars the Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Cappadocia (land of scenic fairy chimneys), Ephesus (& other Roman cities), the Turkish Riviera, Turkish folk dancing & belly dancing, shopping for the magic flying carpet, and much more.

The video can be seen on the web, if you have a high speed internet connection.

This is a free, non-commercial, streaming video on the Windows Media Player. No ads and no strings attached. I still sell absolutely nothing.

    My video site is:

The new gallery of still photos from my trip to Turkey can be viewed with any modem at:

There are over 30 of my other amateur films are currently on-line. Visit Italy, Bali, Mayan Pyramids, Japan, Russia, China, Cambodia, Peru, the Galapagos Islands, Britain, Hawaii, or Antarctica; see whales, penguins, or polar bears.

The planet is yours, including my Home Page giant galaxy of still pictures from every continent at:

    What to See In Turkey

    Tony,

This was a photography land tour of central and western Turkey in 1998. Three people with still cameras and me with a focus upon video, plus our wonderful guide.

I wanted an itinerary that avoided Troy for good reasons. Such "digs" usually are boring, with nothing to photograph. There needs to be something above ground. At Troy the most famous attempt to compensate and lure tourists with a phony was made: construction of a brand new Trojan Horse. Not for me.

I understand your Motivation from a Photography point of view Dave.
But I would want to go just to be there.
Need a cruise ship to build a terminal there

    Tony,

Ephesus was a cruise ship destination for me back in 1992, along with Greek islands. Istanbul must be on other cruise routes, together with some of the nice places I visited that form the Turkish Riviera.
Cappadocia, with its amazing rock formations, underground cities, housing carved out of the rocks, plus ancient churches, is too far inland. That's a drawback, since Cappadocia is unique.

    Dave
