We got back to the ship about 10ish or so. We were docked there til the next night at 10.
We got up bright and early the next morning to catch our tour for the Road to Hana. We had a great gal named Peggy Sue who drove us from about 9am til 6pm. She made many stops (potty) for us and I for one appreciated it. I'm not sure everybody else did. We did the usual tourist stops, but none of them were pushy at all. We bought some great banana bread which we ate on the bus. We stopped at a place where they had the most gorgeous flower arrangements that they not only sold right there, but will ship to you. If anyone wants the website, I will find it for you.
There were about 10 of us on her bus. The ride was on a very winding road with many one way bridges. The drivers were ever so courteous. So much more than here. BTW, this tour was booked through Roberts Hawaiian, not RC.
Peggy Sue made some stops that she claimed weren't on the agenda, but she knew a few places that she thought we would like and we did.

Some more from the Road to Hana. They do a lot of pig hunting annd we were lucky enough to catch these guys just before they drove off with their dinner.

I'm wondering about the idea that the Radiance traveled down from SD to Ensenada. Were there any passengers onboard? If not, was this because of the Passenger Vessel Services Act (which they could have stopped in Ensenada to satisfy that anyway)? I would imagine that most people would prefer to board the ship in SD than get onboard in Ensenada.

Those poor people who didn't have their luggage for the first four days. Did RC fly the luggage over to Hawaii?

No passengers on board because of the PVS act. RC did fly their luggage to Hawaii and they got it the first day in Lahaina. Really didn't make up for the first 5 days though.

Our next stop was Kona. We took a RC tour that was fabulous. It was the Kohala waterfalls adventure. It was rated as "moderate physical exertion". It was a 2 mile hike through the hills but it felt more like 4 or more miles. Most of the walking was in single file up and down the sides of the cliffs of the hills. Well worn trails with plenty of built in foot steps. It was a gorgeous walk. Our guide picked us up at the ship at approximately 9am and drove us for about an hour or so before we changed vehicles. We got in a 6 wheeler open aired thingy like a hummer.

The above picture is Sharon sitting next to Joe and DH sitting in the back. This was a pretty wild ride. We got off the main highway and up the sides of the mountains we went. Through cow fields (and they just stared at us

). We finally reached the point of no more driving and off we went walking. We stopped at many different spots for pictures and it was really the very best tour we did all week. Our guide was a native Hawaiian who was really up to speed on Hawaiian history and folklore too. He never stopped telling us about his culture and we were all impressed with him. Almost at the end of the tour he told us he was going in to cool down. We all opted not to as he told us the water was about 70 ..brrrrrr.
