Our NCL Dawn cruise stopped there last December, but we never set foot in Tortola. We took a 4 hr. excursion to Virgin Gorda, an island with some spectacular scenery. Check it out, as it seemed to be the most talked about excursion on that stop.

I'm not sure it was all it was said to be, but it had some great, small swimming holes, and a tough walking trail, for the physically fit. There's a restaurant and a gift shop where the bus from the VG pier drops you off.

I don't recall hearing of too many exciting things we missed in Tortola, but it was a beautiful area.

I totally agree... Take that tour, we didn't, but heard a lot of good things about it.. Otherwise take the beach tour.. We live about 3 miles from the beach, so we're not into beaches, but everyone spoke well of it....

There is not much in Road Town except shopping, and nothing really great. There are some beautiful beaches over the hill. A taxi will take you over for about $5 a person. The ride itself is quite exciting. But 9 hours there, what were they thinking!

A lot of people take Speedy's ferry over to the Baths - the schedule is posted at their dock.

Biggest store in town - Pusser's. They have clothing, food, drinks, and souveniours.

There is shop that sells Caribbean spices - Sunny Caribee.

The few other shops that are there sell mostly local crafts.

Anyone have any idea of how much this would cost?

A private tour of Tortola, using a taxi , then get dropped off at Cane Bay?
How long would the tour take?

We were only there 5 hours, so we just took the taxi to Cane Garden Bay. Not what I expected, but it was nice.

Next summer, I want to check out the baths, if just to see what everyone talks about. There are 10 of us, and at $US79 a pop, that can add up pretty quick.

I might have my islands confused, but isn't Bomba's Hut in Tortola?
