    snorkeling in Virgin Gorda

What is your opinion of snorkeling at the Baths? Is it worthwhile to schlep all of our gear down there?

I've definitely been there and done that!!

The first time we had no idea what to expect. We took all our snorkeling gear, towels, cameras, etc. and ended up carrying it over, under, around, and through the boulders to get to the best snorkeling areas. Big mistake!

A couple of times, we just took our masks, snorkels, and towels. We left everything else on the ship. Makes for a much easier trip up and down the long and steep path.

or take a tour where you swim in.

The snorkeling is ok, but not the best in the BVI.

    I schlep my everywhere.

Thanks for the pix, if my daughter sees that sign about jellyfish, we'll have trouble getting her in the water. She was stung last summer. Are there often large numbers of jellyfish?

There can be jellyfish anywhere you go. I don't really notice them any more.

If particularly sensitive, you might want to investigate a product like this:
Nidaria Technology: Maker of Safe Sea jellyfish sting prevention Sunscreen - openning

Safe Sea stops jellyfish & sea lice stings!

thanks for the tip. We live in North Carolina, so we occasionally see them here, too.
When we were in Roatan we saw tons of jellyfish, I have to say it was pretty freaky.

She's not hyper-sensitive or anything, just a little scared now. Do you know anyone who's ever used this product? It might be worthwhile just to avoid the sea-lice .

I bought some a while ago but have never used. Since they don't bother me these days, not sure how I would know if it worked or not?

We take our lycra dive skins with us - they're very lightweight and extemely compact. They don't cost very much and will protect you against the sun, jellyfish, sea lice, etc. We don't leave home without them and have used them for years as they will save a snorkel or scuba dive that otherwise would have not been possible.

    thanks for the tip

Dive skins aren't in the budget for this trip, but a great idea!
