    Question Shore Excursion... Can't Decide

We'll be visiting Tortola for the first time in December on HAL and would appreciate input on these shore excursions: North Shore & Pusser's Landing; Tortola Secrets; Tortola Highlights. After reading the HAL description, they all see similar so we can't decide. Thanks.

Redlyn .... We love Tortola but have always taken the "water sports" type of excursions.

My aunt and uncle have been on the "North Shore & Pusser's Landing" excursion twice. Especially, they enjoyed their time at Pusser's Landing which they found an interesting place browse around. If you have any questions on this, I'll be glad to ask my aunt and reply.

    Have FUN planning!

Thanks, LuLu. Could you just ask youraunt & uncle if they got a good overview of the island on that tour and if there's anything they'd especially recommend?

Just talked to my aunt. She's going to find the pictures she took on those two excursions (N.Shore/Pusser's Landing) to refresh her memory and said she'd get back to me tomorrow. She takes lots of pictures. Fortunately, she normally keeps them in order by cruise and shore excursion.

She's very excited about doing this for you!

Now, they are 80+ (she's still quite sharp... unfortunately, my uncle isn't) ... but, they are very "well cruised" ... have been to China to The Great Wall, etc. Bottom line: I trust her opinion on this type of non-water thing since they have done so many.

I'm looking forward to seeing what your aunt has to say about the excursions. We're in our 60's and more interested in the land excursions than the water based activities, though we love the ocean and cruising.

It is so great that you aunt and uncle can still enjoy traveling. Good for them!

I'm not a real proponent of shore excursions - especially those offered by the cruise line. I'm one that likes to do our own thing and explore.

With that in mind, you might consider taking a water taxi to Virgin Gorda and visiting The Baths. Doesn't cost that much and is really a great way to see the island.

Redlyn .... A bit late getting back because my aunt wanted to bring over the pictures of her two "The North Shore & Pusser's Landing" excursions!

Her reasons for enjoying an excursion might be totally different from yours since you all are younger BUT here's what she had to say:

She especially loved going in the Open-Air Safari Bus because she could take pictures without lots of getting on and off at each and every "photo opt". She suggested getting an OUTSIDE seat for sure. She can't remember which side but thinks the LEFT.

Adequate stops were made with clean rest rooms.

Pusser's Landing was perfect for her. She sat my uncle at a bar ( he was happy) and did a bit of browsing in the shops. Also, she thought Pusser's Landing was a pretty place where they could have easily spent the day watching the coming and going and people at the landing....

She says, "I must have liked it because it did it twice."

Unfortunately, my aunt and uncle are no longer able to cruise BUT are so glad they were able to do as many as a did while they still could. A good thought for ALL of us!

    Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for the info, LuLu. Sounds good to me... especially the Open-Air Safari bus. The first time we go to a new place, we usually do a shore excursion so we can get a good overview. Then if we go back again we have an idea of what we'd like to see on our own.

Thank your aunt for me ... I'm glad they took the opportunity to travel when they could. So many people don't and regret it later.

    Lulu,

Again, thanks for the info. What excursions did you do in Tortola. I am at such a loss as to what I want to do for this cruise. Never been like this before.

What water/beach excursions would you recommend??
