still not sure about tip ammount

    Hi everybody
We´ll be cruising Crown Princess next Feb 4 for a 14 nights Caribbean. We have 2 adjacent interior cabins one for my husband and I and another for my children(17,14 ans 12).
I intend to give extra envelopes at the end of the cruise to the room attendant(?),waiter and helper(second dining) provided they serve as as well as last year¨s at Emerald. What would be a fair amount for the 2 cabins for 14 nights?I am a bit clueless as tipping is different in different countries. We are from Argentina and would like to give an extra thanks for the service given and feel it´s the right ammount.I would appreciate your help suggesting a number!

    Hi macia,

On Princess $11.50 per passenger (including children) is added to your shipboard account each day for the gratuities. This amount covers all the personnel in the buffet, dining room, cabin attendants & housekeeping staff.

If I get exceptional service, such as table waiter, cabin steward etc, I usual on top of the compulsory gratuities gives them 20 (dollars, Euros, pounds)

Cannot afford to many, but people that help me I like to personally give them something.

Definitely keep on the autotips. I find it easier to have Princess charge our account each day rather than carrying around money during the cruise.

On the last day on our last cruise (which was 14 days in length), we did get some tipping envelopes (your cabin steward will probably put some on your desk but if not, the front desk will have plenty) and put some cash in for our cabin steward and for the kids' staff (even though our teen wasn't enthusiastic about the slate of activities for her age group -- at that age, anything decided by adults is considered lame). Unfortunately I don't remember how much we put in for either (12 months ago).

Another thing to do, is to note down the name of any crew member who did something special for you, along with country and work station or department (they have name tags with this info). The front desk (passenger services) has "you made a difference cards." These will go into their personnel files and can make a difference when it comes to raises or promotions.
