Click on the Holland America link in the original post above...then click on Hotel Service Charge and tell me what the dollar amount says!

When I clicked on it this morning it was back to $10!!!

Good information, I just booked to take my adult kids on a cruise for our 35th, to ensure there were no surprises for these starving students i prepaid the gratuities as part of the booking. this will be part of their Christmas Present.

Char, I clicked on the Carnival link you posted and saw changes. Here is the update directly from their website's FAQ section:

For your convenience, we automatically charge the gratuities for dining and stateroom staff to your onboard Sail & Sign account. The total amount is $11.50 per guest, per day as follows (our recommended guideline effective voyages departing December 1, 2011 and onward):

$ 3.70 - Per Day Stateroom Services
$ 5.80 - Per Day Dining Room Services
$ 2.00 - Per Day Alternative Services: distributed to kitchen, entertainment, guest services and other hotel staff members.
For Cruises-To-Nowhere, gratuities of $11.50 per guest, per day must be prepaid.

Carnival Tips have been at $11.50 per person starting early December of last year. On my B2B starting 11-27 tips were $10.00, the second cruise, 12-02, they went up to $11.50.
