Question What is a good Holiday/Christmas gift for your steward?

Given that the holiday season has arrived...Christmas and Hanukkah gifts come to mind.

Does anyone have some good ideas for small Holiday gifts for servers, waiters, and stewards while on board ship for Hanukkah, Christmas or New Years?

Please make some suggestions or tell us what you have gifted in the past.

On our Holiday cruise, we just gave cash. I guess you can give phone cards that can be used internationally. Hopefully would cover whatever country the crew members come from as most likely those are the countries they would call.

I guess if you also bring some generic gifts from your area (that are good for either gender), but I wouldn't make that in place of extra cash as that would be the most useful for them. Maybe bring some holiday cards that you and your family can sign to put extra tips in.

Also check about if there's some employee discount. Princess has make a difference type of cards available at the passenger services desk. If you write down a crew member's name/country/place of work (for example: Tomas, Spain, Horizon Court), that crew member will get brownie points that will help if going for a promotion. I think there's also a drawing for a prize for a selected crew member among the cards.

Because their living and storage space is so very very tiny, CA$H is by far the most appreciated gift.

Cool! These things are good to know for folks headed on a holiday cruise this year.

I take it some of you might separate out the Holiday/Christmas tip with a note, or do you simply tack a little extra on and know they will realize what its for?

I keep the tip cash and Christmas cash separate and give the Christmas cash at a different time.... Usually, I have a small box of candy, or even just a hershey bar, and tie a ribbon around the candy, and tuck the green under the ribbon, where it's visable.

There we go....a calling card. That is a great idea. I think they even print up Holiday Themed versions.

    Nice suggestions, Joey.
