I have seen signs around here (Southern California) that say "No bills over $20." I guess they don't want to worry about needing the counterfeit pens. Plus if they are having to change out a $50 for a small purchase, they will use up a lot of change (that I understand from my time working in retail). So I feel better about going about depositing the money in my account, or at least getting change from the bank,, rather than handing the bill to a store clerk and getting the "you've got to be kidding" stare.

This SPRING they raised almost $3,000 once exchanged to US Dollars.
Great idea. Have them hook up with a school here in Sweden. Maybe they could discuss the same type of program here. It might be a fun project for them in 2010. Lee

on that LuLu. There must be a lot of foreign coins in desk drawers and mayo jars every where that can be put to good use.

At the end of our cruise, we take all of our foreighn coinage to our local Post Office, who then donate to a local charity.

Well if the staff are as poorly paid as everyone says I would think they would happily accept anything that was an extra to the actual tip, why the heck not? what is there to lose?
