Thread: Tipping the Maitre'D?

We have tipped the maitre'd only one cruise when he had done something special for us.

Other than that, those that just introduce themselves and say Hi each night get nada

We've never tipped the maitre d'. Actually I never saw him.

we tipped him on a couple of cruises but not all of them

i have on occasion probbly about 50% of the time

We tipped him because he switched our table.

We never saw our Maitre'D apart from day 1 and then he couldn't help me with my query. I didn't even consider tipping him.
We saw our head waiter every day, he did everything we asked him to do including specialist dining and even added free first glass of wine.

With auto-tipping. he is included. Before that, we usually tipped because like another poster, they helped me with the low sodium meal each night. One didn't bother, left it to the waiter and he didn't get a tip.
