I normally only play the slots and if I win I do not tip. But on the tables if I win, I will tip. If I walk away with the money that is.

My husband and I were in a casino last night, he was playing Texas Hold 'Em. Every time he won a hand, depending on how much he won, he gave the dealer 2 or 3 dollar chips.

I normally tip a bit as I play Blackjack or Craps! Especially Craps!
Money placed beside your bet is for "The Dealers" ... they know .... You can also back up and double down on their bets as well.
With Craps you can also throw out money and just say what you wish to bet "for The Dealer". Example "Cover the Hards for the Dealers"!
If you are winning and don't feel want to bet for them ... just flip them a chip every so often with a thanks.
They will not expect you to tip if you are losing.

Gosh, I didn't know about this. But then it's rare that I go into casinos, even on a ship. Too smoky for me...and I don't think I would be that lucky at gambling. I don't even buy lotto tickets.

I asked someone who lived in Vegas and played on a daily basis. It's a bit different when you spend a lot of time playing at one table. He said the "rule of thumb" is if there are 6 playing at the table for several hours that all would usually tip $9 per hour of play if they were winning. Some regulars would tip whether they were winning or not, but most only tipped if they walked away with more than they arrived with.
Now for slots -
Say you win a lot in a slot payofff . . . like say $800. Would you then tip a portion of that to the casino mgr? Or the lady who had been bringing you drinks? And how much?
