Now for slots -
Say you win a lot in a slot payofff . . . like say $800. Would you then tip a portion of that to the casino mgr? Or the lady who had been bringing you drinks? And how much?
I don't think so. The bar server would (should) have been tipped at the time of service, both on land and sea. I have never heard of any tipping associated with the slots.
My DH had hit the slots once mannny years ago, for $1300. he was so exicted, they gave him a free drink and I think he tipped everyone who gave him the drink and gave him the money. As how much, haven't a clue. I would guess between $10. and $20.
So -
There ARE certain rules if you are playing the card games?
Still not sure I understand them, though.
But I AM curious about the tipping of the dealer... I wonder if people who are winning, but neglect to tip, might suddenly stop getting winning hands?
Not rules, necessarily, but what is "customary". This was what was done at the several casinos that my source frequented. He lived in Vegas for several years and was a professional gambler.
If the dealer was doing anything underhanded (pun intended) he would be found out pretty quickly and immediately dismissed and reported to the gaming authorities. The land based casinos have to run a tight ship or be heavily fined and/or have their license revoked. I imagine the sea going casinos have stringent rules as well.

As Char said .... NO!
The dealers do like you better and are more friendly if you tip ... even small amounts.
When shooting CRAPS, it's really nice to have the dealers "like" you. They can be so helpful to remind you if you happen to forget to back up a bet. Also, Craps can get crazy and there can be lots of money in various places on the board. At a crowded table dealers knowing who you are and where you are is a good thing ....

Well, jhust reading this, I don't think I am quite ready for the big time.
I think I'll just continue putting my $10 per cruise into the slots... although on my last three, I didn't even do that. Just never got around to it.

I play the slots, too. I'm not a table game person.....too complicated.
We played the slots twice on our last cruise (Princess) and decided that it was a lost cause! I've never seen a machine that didn't give you at least something in 20 pulls! They need to make it fun for you to lose your money....not just take it without at least a little fun along the way!
When I'm sitting at a bar playing video poker and get a Royal Flush ($1000), I might give the bar tender $20, in addition to the normal tips for drinks.
These days, it seems like there are fewer and fewer hand pays, which I always considered parasites.
On the tables you can also just toss the dealer money which is more of a sure thing than a bet.
Even though you think you are tipping an individual, the shift will split any tips.
