We always tip in cash. We tried the gold $1 coins once, but stopped that since we found out that they aren't as easy for the crew to spend in some ports.

We like to tip in cash too. We're put tips on our seapass acct. before but it just seems so impersonal!

I don't like putting the tips on our accounts as I've heard it takes longer for the staff to actually receive their tips after the cruise! I like to know that the money they are owed will get to them if I provide it directly....Originally Posted by sailyn
I got so caught up talking about the souvenirs we give WITH Tips, that I forgot to mention that we give cash. So many of the crews are working to send money home, that we try to make it as easy as possible for them to do that.
I never thought about it Jodi, but I think you brought up some very good points.

We leave all the beer and soda that we didn't consume.. A room steward once told me that they trade all that kind of stuff between themselves.. It's like a mini-ebay on ship....

Great information! Thanks for sharing it!![]()
I've given the phone cards along with the cash and they seem to enjoy those!

Last cruise I started writing thank-you notes with our tips for our room steward and waiters. They all commented on the cards. I think they appreciate the personalization of things. So many people are not kind to these people! Of course, we also leave extra $$ for good service!
Gold $1.00 coin to tip at bars
New $2.00 bills for room service
Victoria Secret Shower Jell for front office staff and any other females that we deem tipping.
We take 10-15 Pair of new FUZZY SLIPPERS to give away to crew members. Have given to everyone from the Captain to the yum yum man.
Have prepaid for massanges for crewpersonnel if really deserve.
Have sent letters throuth CEO HAL to the Captain praising personnel that have deserved it.
