    tips for spa services.

I plan on using the spa on my next cruise... what is the normal tip percentage?
Do they do a hard-sell for their products?

I can't answer on the tips, but I can tell you DH went for a facial, and came back with $150 of useless creams.

DH isn't usually an easy sell, but they did a good job on that one.
I won't go to the spa...I'm afraid there is no help for me

The last time I went, there was a very hard sell for the products afterwards. I told them I couldn't afford the products and that if I bought them I wouldn't be able to tip 15% like I was planning. It worked

It really depends on how much you enjoy the spa treatment, how much to tip. I usually give 15% since that's the percentage they use for the bartender's tip amount.

The seaweed wrap is awesome! Very relaxing. If you plan to get it done, try not to sunbathe prior, part of the wrap is to exfoliate your skin, so if you're sunburnt, it can be a little scratchy.

The only time I had an onboard spa treatment is four years ago when hubby decided to "treat" me. The masseuse didn't try to sell me anything, but he wouldn't have been successful if he had.

Tipping is VERY appreciated in any spa! After all you tip a waitress who comes by periodically and checks on you and maybe refills your glass.

Yet so many people don't tip a in a spa, and you are having one girl stay with you from anywhere (depending on your service) from 30 min to 2 hours... Catering to you and pampering you.

I normally tip Spa services, but I'll admit, I was Not Impressed with the spa service I received on the Golden.

I don't fault the Spa, or the cruiseline, I believe it was the individual's own attitude and/or lack of skill. I did not tip.

Oh, and it's a pretty hard sell on the products, too.

Oh if you get crap service for sure you shouldn't tip! After all being in a small area with a grumpy esthetician or massage therapist can definitely be contagious!!!

I don't use the spa on HAL -- but I have heard others complain about the gals and guys wanting to sell them everything off the shelves.
