Hanna .... Always more than $20. One pays for what one gets! Depends on how far away our car is parked ....

I do know that money talks.

My 83 year old Mommacita will also be cruising this time and what I'm looking for is a quicker way to get her off the ship and through customs. She can walk (usually uses a cane) but doesn't always have a lot of endurance. I have registered her with Carnival for wheelchair embarkation/debarkation but she is politely rejecting that for now. If she can make it onto the ship on her own it should not be a problem for her to exit.

There will be 5 of us and I'm assuming 10 pieces of luggage (probably less - only a 5 day cruise) so $20 will be cheap. Add up to 5 carry-offs and perhaps Mom on the cart so $25-$30 should do it. Especially if I get everyone VIP luggage tags which will put the luggage closest to customs.

In New Orleans, the parking lot is on top of the terminal, so the porter will mainly help get the luggage through customs, in an elevator, and then not too far to a vehicle.

I will be pulling my luggage off just before the elevator and heading in a different direction and was trying to figure out what a fair tip would be.

As far as waving money - never had to do that - usually have to wave them off.

I imagine the sharks will encircle my mother figuring an easy score.

Our bags are all on wheels and I have straps that hook them together. I just tow my train of luggage behind me so I do not need porters.
