tipping for room service

i have been on several cruises.... but have never taken advantage of room service... I am booked on Freedom of the Seas sept 9th and Carvinal on Oct 11 and was wondering what would the customary tip be for a Continental Breaksfast or late night Sandwich ... I don't want to bee too cheap but don't want to go overboard ( ha ha ) either ...

We generally tip $2 for room service. Have never ordered a full meal (other than breakfast on the balcony) but I understand that most folks tip more for dinner. Normally, your cabin attendent does NOT deliver room service, so it's someone other than the service staff you see daily.

We generally tip $2 for room service. We just get coffee and a croissant and then go to breakfast after we are showered and dressed.

We have coffee delivered to our cabin every morning! It's not only our wakeup call, but I don't talk to my wife until after she's had at least two cups!! lol

But I'll usually tip $2 for bringing coffee, maybe $3 if we're having pastries or something. At least once during our cruise - usually a day at sea - we'll have breakfast served to us on our balcony . I'll normally tip them $4 - $5 depending on how much we order.

As Char said, usually the room server is not the same as your cabin stewart, so this is somebody you don't see on a regular basis. It's important to provide a cash gratuity to them for their service since they are also not part of the 'tipping pool' should you decide to have your gratuities automatically charged to your cabin.

I am in total agreement with all of the above posters. If in fact I had won some money in the casino, I'm a bit more generous though.
