Whoa! Wasn't able to get back here for a couple of days and was surprised at the responses!

Ok, someone said (I think) 10% per person per day...if that's right, doesn't that really run up a bill on say a 7 day cruise?

And...showing more of my ignorance...10% of what? If the price is all-inclusive, where do you get the numbers from?

    Forgot something!

Someone asked what cruise line was I thinking about and I didn't know that made a difference. Regardless, I was thinking about Carnival Cruises out of New Orleans. That or the one out of Mobile if it is still there.

I think Sue said $10 per person per day.......which is about normal. The reason the cruise line is important is that some automatically add the tips to your sea pass charges and others allow you to pay in cash at the end of the cruise.

Also some lines, like RC, you pay more per day if you have a suite. Just trying to accurate information to help you as best we can.............

    Happy cruising.

After checking out several websites the norm for most of them is:
    Room Steward.. $3.50 per day
    Waiter... $3.50 per day
    Asst. Waiter... $2.50 per day
    Head Waiter... .50 per day

Most lines now prefer you have it charged to your Sail & Sign Account, but will give you the option to pay cash, if you request to do so at the Pursers desk. The exception is NCL, which now has manditory tipping. On RC you pay cash at the end of the cruise, unless you request to have it charged to you Sail & Sign card at the Purses desk.

I hope this answers your questions...

Roger is right!! That is why I never booked the Caribbean!! I live on the aft and they ruined it . in my opinion. I was told there are very few tables compared to the Golden and Star, and The Carib Cafe, cuts right into the terrace area on both sides!! Not to mention the extra crowds!! The Star and Golden are almost the exact same ship. The kids zone is aft, top deck, on the Star, but is midship on Golden!! I love the Star!! The crew is great. I would sail the Golden again in a heartbeat, but I'm not flying to San Juan!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
