Harry .... Thanks for this. While it's unlikely I'll ever do it, so love to read about all cruise ships.

Wonder if anyone has read any pax reviews on this ship?

I read some a while ago when she was first made into the Dream. But I can't remember where I read them now, it was just a google search.

I should really add these things to my favourites.

David Selby, Director of Cruising enthused “Whilst the recent independent survey of passenger reviews published by Cruise.co.uk illustrates that Thomson Cruises is already among the highest rated cruise lines in the business, the addition of Thomson Dream will allow us to satisfy an even wider audience, attracting new customers as well as introducing a new option for our many loyal followers who return year after year.”

Currently sailing as the Costa Europa, the ship has capacity for 1,506 passengers and at 54,000 gross tonnes, will be Thomson’s biggest and most luxurious ship yet.
The interior décor is stylish, the public areas of the ship are spacious and tastefully designed, with several bars for watching the day’s port sail away, a large fitness area and sports deck, a cosy library and adults-only area for relaxation.

The Broadway show-lounge with its large revolving stage will allow Thomson to continue to feature its highly popular entertainment programme, for which it is renowned. The ship will also offer a choice of several smaller areas for daytime entertainment and cabaret.
As with Thomson’s other ships, the atmosphere onboard will be relaxed and friendly with emphasis on service, entertainment and dining. The ship’s dining options will be of a very high standard and features five restaurants including a main dining room, an a la carte Grill restaurant and a 24hr buffet restaurant, where friendly waiters are on hand to take care of everything from surf ‘n’ turf to a midnight sandwich.

All cabins onboard, from the super luxury Grand Suites with balconies to the comfortable standard cabins, have been recently renovated. The spacious standard inside and outside cabins have a stylish neutral décor, with a splash of accent colour, while the high end Grand Suites and Suites offer a separate living area, queen size bed and large en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. The Grand Suites also have large balconies for an idyllic sail-away cocktail.

Out on deck there are two swimming pools, one of which has a retractable roof allowing for year-round swimming whatever the weather. Plus, there is plenty of space to sunbathe and relax during the day and then enjoy the entertainment when the sun goes down.
Thomson Dream adds to the highly successful cruise operation out of Palma, joining Thomson Destiny which is currently sailing itineraries during the summer months. Thomson Dream will sail three, seven night itineraries taking in some of the most picturesque areas of the Mediterranean including Rome, Florence and Barcelona. There is also the addition of a new port, La Goulette in Tunisia, a traditional fishing town just 20 minutes from Tunis.
David Selby concludes; “Palma is ideal as a home port. Passengers have a short flight from 22 different UK airports and once there, it is ideally situated to reach a whole host of fantastically varied destinations during a seven night cruise. This latest addition to the fleet reinforces the importance of the cruise market to Thomson and our commitment to its growth.”

A standalone ‘Thomson Dream’ brochure covering itineraries for Summer 2010 will go on sale on 16 July 2009 with prices from just £729 per person based on two adults sharing, including return flights and accommodation on a full-board basis. Plans for the Winter 2010/2011 season will be revealed soon.

I saw, in another post, that you experienced some trouble with the plumbing, which is never good...but were there other issues that caused you to have a poor overall cruise vacation? What was the onboard service like? Were the "suites" up to snuff?

Sorry to hear your DREAM cruise was such a NIGHTMARE!

Sounds like Thomson have really messed up this time! I wouldn't chose to never cruise again, try again with another brand.

Will you be contact Thomson to let them know your thoughts on their service and new ship? I certainly would! Maybe take it up with your travel agent.

For some reason i have tryed to post this 4 times and not accepted 5th time luck???

I booked to celebrate my 40th birhday and my wedding aniversary in style aboard the New 5* luxurey liner, carnt see a photos are its still being update. (book last year)

Once you board you are hit with the very strong sewage smell, i didnt no any better and at first thought it was the norm as i have never cruised before.
had to find our own way to cabin as there we not many staff around, once we entered our cabin we were met with a very load drying machine, our carpet was wet through.
You suddenly realize that this is not the ship that was promised and payed for, the furniture was stained marked and dowdey, i rang my travel agent and she advised the best she could..
The sewage smell remained with us the whole two weeks, had a message from captian and a letter from the director stating that the sewage smell is not a health hazard.
My toilet for the first week was either, flooding, no water or not fushing, shower water, hot, cold or any.
Corridors flooded, continuous wet carpets, the jacuzzi two men were practically pulled out as something black was leaking into it, the swimming pool leaked flooding corridors and cabins, it was that bad that a woman called the BBC and was interviewed on board, one person called a meeting and several hundreds of people went.

The safety breafing was a disaster, due to weather conditions this was held in the theater, there was no one around to guide us on were to go what to do ect, the 2nd week however was completely different, there were staff at every staircase, every door and every isle.

The tea and coffee was always seved luke worm or cold, the sef serve rest, had plastic cups and plates.

This ship should never have set sail until ALL problems were sorted also if Thomsons had no intentions of renovating it they should have let all customers no.

I am in contact with both Thomsons and my travel agent regaring these issues.

Was on the thomson Dream 1st -15th june2010. Have to agree with all you said. We were totally misled by thomsons brochure and might I add by our thomson travel agent that this was a 5 star ship.
The ship is in serious need of a refit all areas tired and dated.
The plumbing issues are still a mjor concern, on our first week the public toilets were mostly out of service. The sewage smell was apparent as we boarded. We were lucky! in our cabin that we were only affected by lack of hot water most nights.
Lots of leaks in public areas and wet carpets. The theatre also had seats taken out of sevice because they were wet

    Hey Fleet! Welcome to cruiselinefans!

So sorry to hear that this ship is not up to standards. Thanks for your informative post.

The other poster mentioned that the food and shows were good. Were they also in the plus column for you?
