Houston

We flew into Houston, and rented a car to the Port of Houston so we could take our time and make sight-seeing stops along the way. Enterprise waived the one-way drop off fee and also gave us a ride to the ship from their office, which is just a few minutes away. The total cost for 4 of us was $34. each way, compared to $80. each way if we used the airport shuttle.

Wow - that is great. I will keep that in mind next time I fly in to Houston. We mostly drive on to Galveston, but for that price, you never know...

The port of Houston is really not hard to find, it's just not that well advertised. The thing I worry most about is that a cruiser will get into a cab that doesn't know where it is, and will end up in Galveston!

Here's a website that tells about the Houston Cruise Terminal:

I will post later about things to do while in Houston!

Only Norwegian uses that terminal. They have no ships there this summer, and will start 7 day cruises to the Western Caribbean in October.

Anyone sailing from Houston, December 11, 2005 on the NCL Sun?? We are flying in the day before and have a reservation at the Best Western in La Port which is only about a mile from the dock. Choose that hotel/motel because they have an airport limo to pick us up and I'm sure they will drop us off at the ship the next day. I was thinking about doing a bid on 'Priceline' but since I don't know the area I thought I would pass on the chance I may get a dump even though you can pick the number of stars hotel you want. Anyway, if anyone is staying at the Best Western December 10, give a reply. We are flying out of Atlanta's other airport (Birmingham, AL) since we can get much cheaper flights and because we live on the West side of Atlanta there is only about a 1/2 hour difference in the drive plus easier parking and less hassle. (And Southwest is not in bankruptcy)
