Explore Tampa's premier attraction for bird watching, photography, canoeing, kayaking, and family memories.

Escape to nature on a 2-hour to full day, downstream, quiet-water, paddling adventure through a 16,000-acre wildlife preserve. In all seasons the Hillsborough River astounds with its beauty and abundant wildlife. From the thousands of white ibis in the fall, the sightings of deer, wild hog, and turkey in the winter, the proliferation of songbirds in spring, and its cooling shade on a summer's day, the Hillsborough River brings a new surprise and delight around each bend.

Bring your sense of adventure, rent a canoe or kayak or schedule a guided trip, and paddle through this cypress swamp full of Florida's unique flora and fauna. Perhaps paddling close to a sunning 'gator, a threatened limpkin, 6 turtles congregating on a log, or catching that large-mouthed bass will be the most prized memory of your vacation. Whether this is your first-time, you are an experienced paddler, a vacationer or a local resident, the Florida you're looking for is just a short paddle away!

Canoe Escape is located only 12 miles from downtown Tampa and 10 minutes from Busch Gardens. It was founded in 1991 by the Faulk family. Canoe Escape offers both self-guided and interpretive-guided paddling adventures. In 1997 Canoe Escape began retailing quality canoes, kayaks, and paddling accessories.

We've been to Lion Country Safari....it's very cool to drive around and see the animals roaming freely. I'll never forget the guy in the pickup truck with the shotgun....waiting, just in case!!! I bet they have some stories to tell of crazy people trying to get out of their cars and ending up in big trouble!

I've never gone out of a port other than Tampa and wasn't really impressed. I'm a Tampabay native, so it is really nice to have the port here, but it seems undersized. We went on the Miracle 05/2005 and there were 5 people to every 1 chair. We're crusing it again 09/2005 and hopefully it won't be so bad.

Another nice place to visit in Tampa is the Lowery Park Zoo.. We've been there several times and it's great, and makes a nice family day trip... About a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the Port...
