I grew up near there, irishkat!! I've been to beaches all over the world and I still think that white powdery sand near Clearwater is the bestest !!

Clearwater beach is very nice, but for white sand try Siesta Key in Sarasota ...

It's so white it's unbelievable!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I have been to Siesta Key and it's a great place. Did you hear about the man-eating lizards on Siesta Key and Sannibel Island?

That Myakka state Park is a great place. It feels like Old Florida there.

JV, where did you hear such a thing?.. Granted there are alligators, but they're everywhere down here, I've got a five footer living the the drainage canal behind our house right now.. I've lived and worked in Sarasota as a Firefighter for 37 years and if there were monitor lizards here, I would know about them... Rest assured, if you vacation here again, you won't be eaten, at least not by a monitor...
