TAMPA is CCL's Port of othe Year

Port of Tampa named Carnival Cruise Lines’ Port of the Year

TAMPA— The Tampa Port Authority (TPA) is pleased to announce that Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL), which home ports two ships year round at the Port of Tampa, has named Tampa its ‘Embarkation Port of the Year’ in their comment card rating program honoring consistent customer satisfaction and high comment ratings. The award was presented to World Wide Shore Services, Carnival’s service provider, during the CCL Port of the Year party, held March 31, at the Tampa Airport Marriott.

The award recognizes the ongoing attentiveness and top-notch customer service provided by the line’s guest logistic shoreside personnel, as well as the overall check in experience of cruise customers sailing from this port. Tampa’s guest comment scores were the highest among 20 North American Carnival home ports. With two Carnival ships, Carnival Legend and Carnival Inspiration, a total of 620,000 cruise guests embarked/disembarked on Carnival cruises via Tampa last year.

”Cruise is a very important component of the business mix at the Port of Tampa and to the vitality of tourism in Tampa Bay, and the staff we have working to provide a world-class cruise experience is second to none. Being recognized with a great distinction like Carnival’s Embarkation Port of the Year is a testament to a great group of dedicated people and to the strength of Tampa as a growing cruise destination,” Richard Wainio, Tampa’s port director and chief executive, said.

“Our Tampa team is certainly deserving of this award. They consistently offer friendly and attentive service in their ongoing efforts to provide a fun and memorable vacation experience. We congratulate everyone at the Port of Tampa on this wonderful achievement—it is truly a team effort,” Milly Martin, Carnival’s senior director of guest logistics, said. “Carnival has been sailing from Tampa for 16 years, and we continually receive outstanding feedback from our guests on their experience.”

The Tampa Port Authority (Home - Tampa Port Authority ) administers Florida’s largest and one of the nation’s most diversified ports, handling a wide mix of bulk, break-bulk and containerized cargoes, and is also one of the nation’s premier cruise home ports, as well as a major center for shipbuilding and repair.
