Suggestions on where to stay - Cruise Line Fans: Cruise Forum, Reviews and Chat From Real Cruisers

We are considering flying into Tampa on the 26th of Nov. for our cruise leaving the 27th at 4:30 on Zenith. We are not familiar with the airport or the area. I've seen on other posts the distance from the airport to the port is not that far and a taxi can be had for about $25. Can anybody help us out with hotels in the area? We have a pile of points for Comfort Inn, Econlodge, Quality Inn (that whole chain). Are there any of these nearby? Or is there one that you would recommend that is more convenient?

If you really want to splurge, check into the Hardrock. It's hotel and casino in one. Don't know rates except likely over $100++ a night but there's fine dining there, also a food court within the casino. Would help take away precruise jitters. Of course there's Busch Gardens in Tampa too. Might as well make the whole trip fun.

Thanks Ruthless. We're not going to be at the hotel long enough to do much of anything. Our flight will not be in until late afternoon. We have presently booked Quality Inn located at 400E Bearss Ave. Does anyone know this location? We can cancel and change if necessary. We just need to be able to grab some supper, we don't need fancy, but hope it is adequate. Quality Inn's in our are are usually fine for a quick stop-over.

I know that this is far too late but that area is no where near the port and not in the best area of town. I hope it went well for you.

In your opinion, wheat are the best hotel choices near the port?
