We went to Stockholm in August and we didn't make it to the Ice Bar...I heard mixed reviews about it. Basically it's a whole bar made of ice! So it's FREEZING (like -5 degrees F or something!)...they dress you up in furs, hats and gloves so you're warm enough to be able to stay there!! It's more a novelty than anything....some people thought it was a lot of fun, others told us, "It's okay...but there wee other things worth seeing more."

I was in Sweden last year and skipped the ice bar. You know what is really great, though? Just go to the old part of town in Stockholm and walk around. What a pretty city! Little winding cobblestone streets and medievel looking buildings with little tables set out in the plaza at all these quaint little restaurants...perfect for people watching while having a beer. It's just a very cool place to be. It looks like something Disney would design! I think there is a photo of it in my gallery under my usename - not under locations, but under Texashorselady.

Yes, doesn't it look like Walt Disney had a hand in designing it? LOL!

I liked Skansen a lot. My Dh wasn't as thrilled about it...I liked the "folkiness" of the park and the animals were wonderful!

You're both helping soooo much!!!! This is exactly the kind of thing we're looking for. The tour to the ice bar is really short and we're due to be there for 8 hours, so walking and shopping are perfect for me!

When we went to Stockholm, we saw the following:

Nordic Museum...It's a short bus ride around the bay...very easy to get to! Lots to see!
Vasa museum...Don't miss this!!!!!! Right next door to the Nordic
Skansen...one more bus stop past the Nordic....
Royal Palace...on the other side of the bay...take the bus back and make one transfer...easy!!!

If you get the Stockholm Pass, all of these attractions and the bus fare are all included...it'll save you some money in the long run!!! And it's great NOT to have to worry about pulling out your wallet to see if you have the money at the time....

Did you buy the pass on the ship or on shore?

You cannot purchase the pass on the ship. You can buy them at any TI (Tourist Information) or over the internet. We bought ours on the internet so we could get the booklets early and research the best use of our time...
