Stockholm

We're visiting Stockholm on HAL Rotterdam.
Does anyone have recommendations for this port. What shore excursions to take or is this a walking town.
Do they have a hop-on hop-off trolley?
Anything would be helpful.
Thanks,
Dale

Old town Stockholm is very nice...medieval with cobblestone streets, a central plaza and lots of little shops and outdoor cafes. It's clean and modern, but embraces its old past...you'll love it!

Here's old town...

Here's a photo of me (in black) in front of the Swedish Palace. It's a nice tour, you might want to take a little time to see that while you're there...

We purchased a Stockholm card and took the trams to the museums and the Skansen open-air market. We also used the card for the Swedish Palace exhibits. There is another shopping area next to the palace which is fun to get lost in as well and they sell the best ice cream!

Dale-
Stockholm is a fantastic city. It is possible to walk into the older part of town with is lots of fun but touristy. To get a full overview of Stockholm though, you might consider a trip out to the Island that houses the absolutely stunning, albeit not seaworthy Vasa....a case of a few cannons too many but a stunning restoration, not to be missed. Close to that is Skansen, which is a lovely park that houses re-creations of life in Sweden past. I have not been there, but many have simply raved about it!!

We elected to take a morning excursion with a Stockholm City tour and the Vasa Museum then coming back to the ship and walking into the old part of town for a tour and iced coffee!

I previously visited Stockholm on another cruise and took the 'Waterways of Stockholm' which doesn't stop at all, and didn't enjoy it as much.
