Urgent Info need on Star Princess

Okay, well maybe it's only urgent to me....:-)
My wife and I are taking our first Alaskan cruise on the Star Princess on June 15th. We BOTH are very excited.
But I've got a little dilemna. You see, the NBA Finals are starting tonight, June 5 and unless something very unexpected and highly unlikely happens, we will be on board the ship while game(s) 5-7 occur.
Before I get the riot act read to me, does anyone know if the ship has any kind of a sports bar or more to the point, do they get a satellite signal? The game of course will be on network television.
And as we make our way up, will they continue to get a feed if they even do to begin with?
I promise I won't be spending our first cruise in front of a t.v. but come on....maybe a few minutes to check scores while she's getting ready for dinner?

I have been on the Star and yes they do have a sports bar and have also shown important sports games in the lounges as well!! I can't guarantee Alaska tho!!

We were on the Caribbean Princess when our Washington Redskins were playing the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Seeing as how this is one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL and we are diehard Redskins fans, we were afraid we might miss the game. Not only did they have the game in the sports bar, but they put it up on the big screen outside over the pool and under the stars! It was absolutely wonderful. And the best thing was, the Redskins won!!

I'm sure if they can get the broadcast, they will be showing it. Princess is very good about such things, but obviously there are no guarantees.

Good luck!!

Pete

It depends on the satellite signal, which should be all right for an Alaskan cruise. During our Hawaiian cruise, the college bowl games were going on. One of our tablemates said the Orange Bowl signal was off and on as we were in the middle of the Pacific at that time. The signal for the Rose Bowl game was a bit better.

Four years ago on our Alaskan cruise, the Olympics were going on, but the coverage we got was from the BBC. So everything was from a British viewpoint which was interesting. The rowing match between Canada and the UK was a nail biter.

If you miss the game, Princess has a small 4-page World News Bulletin that comes out daily. It can be found in either the library or at the pusers desk. It normally has a list of major sports scores -- no write-ups, just the scores. (My DH always likes to read it for the scores.) It's not the greatest, but it's better than nothing.
