Great CM article on Star Princess Fire

If you didn't get it, here it is.. Written by Anne Campbell, the original owner of CC.

    and a little snap shot:

Imagine a fire so hot that steel balconies melt. The fire that erupted aboard Star Princess in the pre-dawn hours of March 22 is a very serious matter indeed, especially since it was most likely started by a cigarette tossed off the top deck of the vessel, according to cruise line executives I spoke to. Several sources speculated that the fire may result in changes that affect the entire cruise industry.

    Thanks Rex for the article.
Someone needs to look seriously at the materials on the balcony, especially that plastic matting and other materials they use on the floors of the Princess balconies.:thumbsdow

I think they should look at non-flamable materiels in construction of all areas of the ship. The paint ingredients should be re-examined to eliminate flamability, and look into sprinkler systems and smoke detectors on balconies.

Best article I've seen so far. If, as written, exterior paint is flammable, that explains alot. Oceana has the right idea, and hopefully all cruise lines will follow suit. People's right to smoke ends when it threatens other lives.

First I read this one. I noticed the headline blamed it on a cigarette before they had any idea of what the cause was. Not impressed with this. They still don't know the cause.......:thumbsdow
