Yes, the bus crash is what I was referring to.
This is a bad coincidence, we have sailed Star and Sapphire, both ships have now had fires aboard them. Sapphire when she was being built and originally was Diamond.

The fire on the Star is so terrible. I was on her last July for 10 days in the Baltic. What a beautiful ship. I was on the Aloha deck, fairly close to the rear of the ship. It looks like the fire definitely affected that area. I'm so sorry for the people who were injured and for the family of the one who died. I can only imagine the terror all the passengers endured. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
Cruising is life at it's best!
This is just so very very sad. I was shocked when I saw the picture. It is amazing more were not hurt with a fire like that at that hour. We too like localady had a fire alarm on our first night our on the Oosterdam in Feb. there was also a fire in the incinerator room. I agree this new event scares me just a bit because I did to think everything will just be under control and roll over and go back to sleep. I did not even consider getting up and getting dressed. Although the Captain did get on the intercom immediately and say to stay in our cabins. Had they gotten on and said it was a real emergency I would have gotten up. How very sad. Like others have siad this just has not been a good week in the news for the cruise industry![]()

I was on the Star Princess from March 5th through the 12th. She is a wonderful ship and it was shocking to read about this fire. How tragic and sad!
That's a lot more fire damage than I imagined. I tend to think, and I hope I'm wrong, that some one fell asleep with a lighted cigerette. I am now reading on this thread that some folks travel with candles. If that is really so, it's not a smart thing to do. Maybe someone forget to unplug and turn the iron off, there are a few possiblities. I'm now hearing about 70 outside cabins were damaged, so this vessel will be pulled from service for a while.

Oh my, that looks terrible. Naren and I were on the Star in May 2004 for our honeymoon, and wow, our cabin is one of those which is now charred.
Wow, I really hope that they can get the ship back to normal soon, so that those with booked cruises in these cabins aren't too badly affected.
It is hard to imagine this happening, very scarry. Very sad.
I'm just thankful that these boards exist to get the very latest information and complete story.

And hope the boat is not!!!
Fox just confirmed someone had a cigarette in bed!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
Oh my, THAT is just awful!!!!! Such a sad accident or so many people.
