NBC News has a picture of the Star. It looks really bad! It looks like it happened mid-ship.

Silence is golden; duct tape is silver.
I am hearing decks 9-12 and started with a cigarette in a cabin, can't confirm!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
localady..............you just reminded me of something. Years ago staying in a large condo complex on Maui. The first night there the fire alarm just outside our door/living room window went off in the middle of the night. We both jumped up, totally disoriented and attempted to figure out where we were and what to do. I thought it was important to grab all my cash before even throwing on some clothes. We made it outside along with many others only to discover this was a high school kids idea of "fun." That fun scared the heck out of us. I truly shudder at the thought of having to deal with a fire at sea.
Over the years of posting on the "other board" I have read arguments about people, skipping muster drill because they "have done it so many times" they don't need to go. People who bring candles because after all "I am careful and what about the smokers." People who bring irons because "I am careful and what about the smokers." and Smokers who always watch what they are doing of course!
The folks who claim what they are doing isn't a problem are not very concerned about the rest of us. Granted smoking is not banned in the cabins but maybe it should be? those other fire hazards are. Why is it so difficult for some people to accept some responsibility and follow guidelines?
Oh man, I just saw the picture...how awful.

As much as I ballyhoo about NCL, I have to admit that we were extremely impressed with their muster drill. I sincerely hope that they have kept up their procedures. There was no talking during the drill and if a passenger was talking, they were verbally reprimanded by the officer of that boat. Attendance was taken and reported. Anyone missing was called for on the PA system.
We never miss a muster drill because we never know where we have to report to until we get onboard.
Sympathies and prayers to the victims and their families

Anniee, I think it may be the 12 passengrs from Celebrity Millennium on a private tour, who were killed when their tour bus swerved and went down a 300 Ft. gorge in South America.
This is tragic news for all of the passengers and the cruise industry.
Bon voyage,
