Lars, today is delivery day for you I hope it all fits in the garage, if not, then tell Dad he'll be having company in the form of boxes

Robin, your counter top price doesn't sound too bad to me. What edge are you going with? Tibben's counters with the edge were over $5K, but when they did the wrong edge and I told them they were taking them back, they took the price for the edge off and since that amounted to a $1,200 savings I kept the wrong ones The new house will have the correct edge this time because I am not moving again until my new residence will be a pine box in the ground Well or if we hit the lottery, but that's a whole different scenario

Robin, which counter is it again?

Lars, how did it go with the new carpenter?

We did quite a bit of brainstorming last night with different things. I'm now trying to remember everything we talked about I have to say, Mike doesn't care what I want to do or how much it will cost, this could be a very bad thing

Robin, you may not want to battle between a man and his tool shed! Those old rusty looking tools are held in high regard, they are like the holy grail! We need to buy a large hammer drill to be able to install the lights on the sides of the garage and a very long bit! Mike measured last night and the wall is 20" thick, when I jokingly asked if we could just try to drill it from both sides and meet in the middle like when they build tunnels, the look I received was priceless

I've been searching all over to see if I could get a better price on those darn lights The list price is $2,616 including the post I'll need for the lamp post light; I forgot to add that earlier

I'm now down to $1,570 through one online company. If only I could get that to $1,000 I'd order them

They're coming to measure the garage on Saturday, in the middle of a Nor'easter apparently from the weather forecast Not like I'd want to be out and about during that anyway, but I do feel sorry for the person.

It's a quiet day on here today. I guess everyone is busy planning their renovations...

Oh, and Lars, you've got mail btw

    HI, Judy, Robin, Linda, Hanna.......everyone

The kitchen got delivered yesterday and it fits in the garage I am paranoid about my dad going into the garage to mess around with all the parts and especially touching the counter top with the underclued sink....it is so so fragile that it has to be handled like glass. It will snap in 2 by carrying it wrong or pushing it to hard.
I gave him instructions today saying the garage is off limits for the next week.

I found a new carpenter yesteray morning. He came over at 1pm and had a look at everything He seems good and efficient....He ordered my 2 balcony doors already and windows for the whole house.....well, I am waiting for a quote anyway. He charges for the job done..I think he has a building firm and has a team of carpenters. They are coming on Monday to attach the kitchen and the louges

Robin, I dont think the price for the counter top is bad at all. We have 8 meters of counter tops!
Congrasts on the weight loss I wish Icould manage that and stop smoking.
Robin.......I dont have any wants only needs - What do I do????

    Hi

Lars, congrats on finding a new carpenter! I hope he moves faster than your last one!

Wow Lars, roughly 25 - 26 feet of counter tops? Do you have an island also? My old kitchen had roughly 16 feet of counter tops and a 5 foot island so I was around 21. Hmm, I wonder how many feet the new kitchen is going to be? It will be larger than my old one

What are you using for your counter top material Lars?

I'm tired today I have an appt to see the specialist this afternoon. My new issue is that my hair is falling out, I did call the Dr and tell him, he seemed unconcerned but, as I told Robin when I talked to her on the phone, he's balding so maybe that has something to do with his reaction I expect his response to be "well you're always going to lose some hair and it could be slightly more, it will stop eventually" so I gathered up all the escape artists from my shower and combing afterward to bring with me to show him exactly how much each day I'm losing just when I wash my hair and it falls out all day long! I'm giving Tasha a run for her money on the shed factor! OK, it's official, I'm nuts!

Robin, how long is your counter? Will you have a seam? I know how you and Jack are so I wanted to mention that possibility so you're not taken by surprise over it That's the only problem with solid surface counters, they have seams where laminate doesn't, if done right and not one of those prefab counters. I have a seam on my current counter

I don't feel like working today....this is not good! I have a bunch of stuff I should be doing and can't get moving with it

It was in the low 40's here this morning, Mike is on his way up to the mountains and just called to inform me that it's snowing. It's going to be a long winter!

First you know that I don't really have that much counter space. I measured and I have in total 6 ft of counter with a corner sink. no seems in corian and the skin is molded in. I'm still am reading about it.

Judy you have a lot more hair then I do and I have been telling Jack that I was getting worried about the amount of hair that I was losing. It's not breaking it's coming out at the root. He told me that I might be over reacting. On Sat I went out to ask Jack and show him what I was talking about if he thought that I was nuts with worrying about how much hair I'm losing. He didn't think I was nuts. I am losing a good bit. Between the diet and the thyroid I'm hoping it will stop soon. Normally if I get back on my supplements it will slow down but it can take up to 8 weeks after a dose change for it to stop.

I bought a shampoo and conditioner called Moroccanoil. It has done wonders for my hair. When you have thyroid problems your hair tends to get really dry and it breaks. Google it.

Lars did you open all the boxes and make sure they sent all the right sizes? I can't tell you how many times Jack is on the job and they start to install the kitchen only to find out that they sent the wrong size. It can hold up a kitchen for a couple of weeks until they send the right size. The last job the cabinet cost almost 80,000 US dollars and they had to wait for the cabinet to be made. It wasn't his fault it was the cabinet makers fault he read the plans wrong but still it really didn't matter it held up the kitchen.

Never ever let anyone do a job by the hr. You have no control over how long they can milk it out. This way if they bid by the job it's to their best interest to get in and get out. Jack won't do a job by the hr. He gives a price and then allows 10-15% above for unforeseen items.

Judy with Endo's you really need to know more then they do. They have a reputation of just looking at labs and not worry about what else is going on. I read in JAMA that it can take up to 12 months for TSH to catch up to a new dose of meds. So what that means is Your TSH is low but if your other numbers are fine then meds should be left alone or if the right labs dictate that an adjustment needs to be done then it is the Free Levels that should be taken into account. The Thyroid panel that the US doctors are using is outdated. TSH can be used to diagnose a problem but once on meds it becomes useless. If blood pressure, pulse, reflexes are all fine then she should begin to ween you off the other meds first. My TSH says hyper but everyone of my other labs say I'm find. BP is 90/58 slow reflexes and pulse is 80. I'm on the right dose. So would even increase it but for me I'm feeling good.

I will try to find the article about Graves and TSH.

Let me know how you make out.

I'm back from the Dr. He explained the whole scenario of my hair falling out to me and what he said made sense to me. Apparently the issue with my thyroid could have put my whole body into complete stress, so my normal hair fall out pattern would have slowed down or even stopped due to stress. From my first lab results, and what you were saying before, I should have felt really bad, but honestly if it wasn't for my ankles swelling I probably wouldn't have even pushed seeing the regular Dr just based on how I felt. Apparently most of us don't notice when we don't lose hair, just when we do! Thyroid related hair loss happens when you're recovering. According to him, 6 months into treatment this is completely normal. The plus side is that my hair is growing, so it's not a fall out and stop growing together. I trimmed my bangs a few weeks ago and their back to poking me in the eyes

On my meds, according to my endo, even though my ranges were within the normal range I am on a thyroid suppressant so if my thyroid was working properly my levels should be low and not normal. I'm on 10 mgs now, bloodwork in mid-November again, but I don't need to see him until January, unless my bloodwork results show something where he wants to see me prior.

Ok, enough thyroid talk from me

Less than 15 minutes of work left and it's a good TV night tonight Survivor, Super Natural and DVR'd Vampire Diaries. Mike and I have been wondering how we functioned without a DVR before?! It will be my first night just me and Diva....let's see how many new sounds the house makes
