I did find the software, but they make it so user unfriendly I do have a 3D layout now, but no ceiling or floor...I've got blue skies and grass We just wanted a rough idea, I guess Mike should have been more specific on what he meant by rough Now that I have the layout saved though, I think we can figure out how to add a floor and ceiling. Not really my problem for a few weeks, I've got the file saved and Mike can try to figure that out if he really needs to know while I'm away.
I was going to tell you to be careful with Ikea's bed dimensions, but then realized your mattresses are probably the same size as theirs Actually you don't have a bad idea there, but painting things gloss black can drive a perfectionist a little nuts. I had gloss black wood molding pieces in my old bathroom and I think I painted them with 6 coats of paint In the meantime, if you're thinking of sanding and painting something, check thrift stores if you have them in your area. Sometimes you can find some nice quality pieces that need a little TLC.
I leave Nov 3rd. My flight is around 3:30 or 3:40, something like that. I'm too lazy tonight to look for the flight paperwork. There are 3 laptops, don't ask , cabinet catalogs, spec books, and what else? on my dining room table in addition to my Ruby file which is buried somewhere under the previously mentioned things.
We had our first fire in the fireplace tonight We need to get some wood now, we burned a Duraflame log just to make sure everything was operating the way it's supposed to...a friend of ours has some oak from trees he had taken down and told us to come up a grab a cord from him. All the other wood we have is up the mountains and I don't think Mike's heading up again until mid-November. Those duraflame logs just don't have that good wood smell, they smell more like plastic burning to me. I also realized tonight that I need to get a set of fireplace tools or the grill tools may be coming in the house soon I've been looking for a set, but haven't found any that I liked and the one time I did find one, they were sold out of them Oh well, one thing at a time, right?
They canceled my work's fence installation for this week, the fence hasn't come in from the manufacturer so we're now scheduled for the week I return from the cruise. The one neighbor won't be happy as the hoodlums ripped his outside light right off his building this past weekend I swear these kids need to find jobs or something to keep them outta trouble! They're going to end up doing major damage to something or encounter a neighbor that's going to come close to hurting them if they keep this up. I swear it's because parents no longer whoop their kids butts that the younger generation just has no respect for anything since there's no penalty for misbehaving.
I downloaded the software from the internet...and, I also got the instalation CD from one of those kitchen shops
I think parents should whoop their kids. Kids now a days are so spoiled. Its horrible to watch. I dont know how the things are in the US but in Norway kids/teens does not have to work, they get whatever they want from their parents.....Norwegians in general are very spoiled and lazy and only thinks about me me me me and me. Thats the worst change I have noticed since I have been gone.
Here its not the Ikea beds that has strange dimentions but their sheets etc. They only fit with the Ikea duvets.
The kitchen are now ready painted and wallpaper has been put up and the floor was layed yesterday - I have to say I love the look. It is soooo cool
The painter started to put wallpaper in the dining room yesterday. It will look great also. I cant wait for this to finish now
Also, the carpenters ar banging happily in the bathroom and Hall.
I made their life more dificult by telling them I want a floor to ceiling window in the bathoom instead of the small little window which is there now
They now have to cut the concrete wall to fit the new window
Well, whats the point of renovating if I dont change my mind about things and make changes to the structure of the house??????
My plumber asked me if I wanted these new cool drains in the shower. They are long and the yare istalled by the ceiling/floor. I said sure why not, how much are they?? He said, you can get 4 or 5 regular drains for the same price the total would be just shy off $1000,- for a drain!! I told him no thank you. I rather use those money for something else if I had to
The fireplace will get delivered next week I think
Its getting there slovely but its getting there
Now I am not to sure about the oak hardwood floor I bought. I think I want walnut...dark hardwood floor anyway....Hmmm.......what to do.....
I changed from working early this week to working late - I am to much of a control freak to let those contractors work without me having a few inputs

Those contractors have been drilling the concrete floor in the bathroom all dayWe had to escape to the shops to get some peace and quiet - Nope I didnt shop anything...I am glad to say as the first bill from the contractor arrived today this is going to be fun

I have been so busy, things were a little nuts at work today and this is the first chance I've had today to come here to CLF And, it's bedtime
The software I bought can also do "building houses from a plot of land" layouts. I just wanted to layout a "room"! That's why I have no floor or ceiling, I was too impatient to build from the ground up before adding my kitchen components I just have to zoom in the view to block the grass and sky I've come to the conclusion that the time to layout a kitchen is not the week before you plan to leave on a 10 night cruise
In the US now, if parents hit or spank their children the kids will either report them to Child Protective Service or nosy neighbors/onlookers will! It's unbelievable. Of course this is not every parent and kid in the US, I still know some parents that will take no crap from their kids, but they're becoming the minority. I do see some of this first hand with my youngest niece. Her parents just give her what she wants so they don't have to listen to her Then if I tell her something, she thinks she can question me As Mike would say, Aunt Judy isn't "kid friendly" when it comes to reasoning with a child My reasons are....because I'm an adult; because it's my house; or because I said so!
With Ikea, my niece bought a bedroom set one time from there and she bought sheets from a different store and nothing worked right. She had already washed the sheets so she ended up giving them away. I have a desk, closet and bureau from Ikea, and when we put it together I think I remember Mike saying he'll never buy stuff from there again
They are moving right along on the refurb Yes, you are allowed to change your mind during the refurbishment, just try to do it before and not after they're done something to keep the crew happy Are you also making the window wider? If not, it already has the support for the current window so the job is a piece of cake Just don't tell them I said that
Whichever floor you use I'm sure will look beautiful, JMO but I have to say that Oak hardwood is not as pretty as Walnut or Cherry I have Oak here but it had carpet on top of it so the floors really need to be refinished, but there's no point in doing that since we'll be replacing the floors in every room eventually.
OMG I'm sure that bill is a definitely moment! I can't even imagine how much all of this is costing you? I get heart palpitations thinking about it. But, think of how nice it's going to be when it's all done

Well today I did see the sun for about 15 minutes then it was gone. I'm beginning to think I live in London. I see Lars that you are moving right alone with all the rehabs. I'm so excited to see the finish product. I'm glad that it isn't me that will have to live through all the dust but it's fun to watch
As for the kid thing. I believe in Capital punishment...Oh wait sorry wrong subject... No really I have no problem with disciplining my kids . I agree that too many children are left alone to make their own choices because parents are so busy with doing what they want. I also told my boys that if ever they felt the need to pick up the phone and call DHS that would be their choice but to remember that they would be removing them not me Seems some of their friends think this is a great trick. My boys never even thought about doing it after I informed them.
Sace got his bath today. Now I don't remember having such a problem with bathing my boys like I had with Sace you see they didn't get down and run under the couch.... It took me a bit to coach him out but once I did I was able to blow dry him and put on his new Polo....
I went doggie shopping and got him some sweaters....Jack is just rolling his eyes but he looks so cute.
Well that's about all that's new. I will check in later.
I really really really wanted a dark floor but since the floor in the lounge is real (not like they make the "hardwood" floor now a days")hardwood floor I didnt want to change it. Well, now I have to sand down the floor anyway so lets see what I am going to do with it.
They started to put together the kitchen cabinets yesterday. I have to say, I am impressed with the speed they do it... Clearly they have done it 1000 of times...I guess I pay for efficency
The plumber was here yesterday also and started to put up new tubes for the bathroom.
When I see cars from the carpenters, electricians and plumber parked outside then I get heart palpitations
The new fireplace gets installed on Thursday and our carpet for the bedroom has also arrived. I will not pick it up for another week at least.
Robin, giving a dog a bath is never easy. I have to say that Vidar is very good. He does it without a scream but he hates it
Monday we are taking him to the hairdresser. We are cutting him short short short because he has gotten all these knots in his fur. I think its because of all the wet weather here. He never had them in Spain.
I like to go doggie clothes shopping So far Vidar has his sweater and his down jacket and black coat. I guess now I have to go and get him some more clothes as he has gained so much weight and also we need some warmer clothers for the winter. "A" wanted to get him some sockes The thing is, the shops sell them in packs of 2!!!! Last time I checked most dogs have 4 legs
Arnaldo is out doing work in the garden this morning. He is doing a good job but it is -2C outside. A frozen ground makes for hard work. But whatever makes him happy
Me I am staying inside in the warm
Oh, it is dust EVERYWHERE now after they drilled the concrete floor in the bathroom....ALL OVER....If this house had a 4th floor there would be dust there also.
I am wating for a quote from my carpenter about laying the new roof and also re-doing the loft floor......Yup, I cant wait for that
I spoke to my bank yesterday and as usual no problems there...They are so flexible when it comes to how to do things its almost scary......Sooooo, maybe we are moving right along and starting with the top floor before Christmas?????
I have to say, it would be nice to have our house for ourselves for at least a few months before the contractors move in again and reclaim it.

Wow this weekend really flew by! I can't believe it's already Sunday night and I don't feel like I got alot accomplished so I have no idea where it went
Thanks Lars
Lars, you could always stain your floor darker since you're sanding it down anyway It really sounds like your place is starting to come together with the "put back" part
Lars, they sell the doggie boots in packs of 2 also! I agree, what's up with that?
I'm glad that there are no issues with the bank...that always makes things go smoother when you don't run out of money I do hear you on wanting the house to yourselves though. It's got to be starting to get frustrating having all those workers there and then when they leave it's not like you can really kick back and relax with all the rehab material and dust around.
Robin, I hear you on the weather. It's downright depressing to have all this cloudiness and rain constantly, not to mention putting a stop to outside projects. All the leaves have decided to drop between Thursday night and today, you can't even see we have grass out back They need to be raked up, but we didn't get to it today because of the weather. Now that daylight savings time is over, it will be dark by the time I get home from work and I leave Tuesday for the Ruby cruise so that project will now either wait until I get back or Mike will be taking care of it. I think it may be waiting for my return unless a big wind comes along and takes them away?

Wow, I just looked on the calendar and I'll be cleaning up leaves and putting up Christmas decorations at the same time Is it me, or is this year going fast?
I'm really looking forward to going away on this cruise I just wish I didn't have so many other things going on again I'm starting to think that no matter when I go on cruises, things will always be chaos back home
