I am almost 63 and not thinking about retirement as yet. Just started a new job last Nov. I am an RN who is now working in a cubicle at a desk and computer, for the state medical assistance program. There are 4 of us RN's reviewing cases and putting folks in a program that will give them better and more consistant care and also save a few bucks for the state. It's really interesting and I am glad I made the change. Should be able to work this job for a long time. perhaps cutting back on hours as I get older and still able to get out and work and make some money for cruises!!!!
I met Karen at my Red Cross job and we worked together for many years. We have also cruised together a few times. She retired a year ago and has been taking trips all over the US mostly. I have not yet met her 2 sisters but Karen feels we will all get along. They just took a couple week trip to Ireland, her maiden name is Casey! I haven't talked to her since she got back At least I think she is back now.
When Ron and I cruised in 2005 we met a nice couple from Canada and I still correspond with her via email. They had a scarey experience with a dolphin tour on Isla Margarita. Some scratches for her and an infected foot, but treated by ships doctor and healed nicely. I don't think she will try a dolphin tour again. A few others were hurt worse but treated and healed. The ship was going to investigate that tour and there were no medical charges to those hurt.
I have been watching the cruise cams of the Star in the Baltic. Today they were in Russia. I am starting to get excited. Still haven't decided on any tours but there is plenty of time. We gals do have to talk it over first.
As we get closer we will have to pick a place to meet. Look forward to it.
Hi; with your nursing expertise we should be in good hands on this cruise. My wife and I have been on 4 previous cruises with HA and this will be our first with Princess. Our friends travelling with us have cruised with Princess on several previous occasions. I never thought to check on the Star Princess's progress, that should be interesting. Our friend Jim does not have a warm feeling about using an outside tour company in St Pete, but his wife wants to try for a smaller group with Denrus. That scenario has yet to play out, but we do have time; the Princess tour iwill be the fall back plan. I am not too familiar with this "thread'communication system and never sure if my messages get through. I have no problem with you folks keeping in touch via my email vincentlpenny@aol.com. I think this will be my 8th cruise with Princess. I am a platinum member which means I get free internet. There are other perks too but that is my favorite. I am uneasy about a tour in Russia other than Princess. If you get delayed and it is not a Princess tour, the ship won't wait for you. I would sure hate to be stuck anywhere but especially in Russia. Guess I've gotten used to waiting a bit to get off the bus tours.
Have you checked out the tours posted on the Princess web site yet. I usually book them right on the site. It's easy and you get your confirmation right away.
Just stopped in to say “Hi.” A month ago Ruth and I hopped on Costa Magica transatlantic (sale price we could not resist). It was a nice cruise, however Costa is far from the top choice of cruise lines. We did end up in Copenhagen and was able to have a small family reunion there. That was really a treat for me. And of course, my cousin took us some places Ruth would not ever have had the opportunity to see otherwise.
I do imagine that you are getting a little anxious for your Baltic cruise. Since I am aware that you only do the ship’s tours, I am recommending that you do Frederiksborg Castle & North Sealand Country. Frederiksborg Slot is the prize of the Danish castles, as well as being tops in the world castles. This was my second trip there and I was still impressed. The stop at Fredensborg Palace normally allows tourist to see the changing of the guards. And for those that want to say “I’ve been there” they include the stop at Kronborg Castle in Helsingor (Hamlet).
Depending on how much time you have, Copenhagen is rather compact and walking tour of the major sights is easy. Ruth and I avoided the Little mermaid sight. We both had already seen the original one and do not have any desire to see the latest creation. In my opinion, she is an insult to the world.
The first day in St. Petersburg, I did one of the Moscow tours. Noticed that Princess is not offering any. It was a long day and a tad bit expensive, but it was well worth taking the trip. We flew from St. Petersburg to Moscow. If they offer a t rip, I suggest that you at least consider it.

Hi Betty, nice to hear from you. And you have been on another cruise already. Janice just sent in her final payment for her Alaska cruise. I imaging our Baltic one will be dur soon too. We just put in a new furnace and air conditioner. Not a good time for that to happen, oh well.
I remember you talking about your tour to Moscow. I'm afraid it's too rich for my blood. The ships tours are expensive enough for me. We are going out a day early to Copenhagen so will look into a tour. However, since you say it's easy to walk around on your own, we just might opt for that. And I do want to see the mermaid, no matter what she looks like. We 4 gals need to get together soon to deside on what tours we want. Will email you if I have questions.
Oh, the original Mermaid is great, and she is still there. It is the new one, someplace nearby that is a disgrace.
Depending on where your ship docks, the original Little Mermaid may be close.
Karen came over 2 weeks ago and we went on line and booked them all through Princess. She could speak for her 2 sisters who live up north. I printed copies of all of them for each of us and she took them to her sisters last week. Everyone is happy and glad we have them all confirmed. Our 2 days in Russia are going to be very full, but I think were able to give everyone a taste of what each wanted.
I have been looking on Princess at some tours in Copenhagen since we are there a day early. We are really interested in that bridge that goes over to Sweden with a visit to Lund. Lund was supposed to have been built in 900 AD. Then we cross back for a tour of Copenhagen. I can't see how to book it on the web site so have sent an email to my TA about it. Also we don't know the times and what time we will arrive in Copenhagen. Just have to wait and see.
We leave 2 months from today!
Got our flight schedule. Unfortunately we don't get into Copenhagen till 1:15 in the afternoon, not a whole lot of time for a tour. Guess we will just have to walk around on our own.

For some reason I can't figure out how to start a new thread.
This is live from the Baltic cruise and we are docked in Sweden. Weather is cool and cloudy but not bad. We all loved Copenhagen. Had a tour on Sunday before we boarded the ship but on Saturday afternoon we walked all over the old town for hours in beautiful but windy weather. Only negative so far was that Janice's luggage was lost and didn't get on the ship till just before we left Copenhagen. She was tired of the same clothes but all ended well.
