Martinique/Grenada/St Vincent

Cruising on the Sun in February--the above are new ports for me. Anyone been on any good excursions there? Thanks!

We didn't get to stop in St Vincent due to generator problems but at the other places we just shared a taxi and the driver gave us a tour of all the interesting places. If you do this on Martinique make sure the driver has good English as some don't.

We will be stopping in Martinique next Jan, 2007. Sure would appreciate any information available. That's one island we haven't been to.

As I said we did a taxi tour and went up into the hills. Stopped at a church and waterfall and some viewpoints. When we came back we just wandered round the town, had a drink ( DH was trying a local beer in each island! ) looked at the church, fort and the shops. Some nice things but not cheap. Hope this helps.

We just got back from out cruise on March 8th. Overall the itinerary was good, but we didn't get to stop at 2 ports due to high winds and rough seas. We did stop in Martinique and my advice would be to do a tour. We decided to get off the ship and walk around town. We found that it's not like any other port we've been to. No designated shopping and basically not much to do. We did go into a few bars to try local beers which was very nice, but there is definitely a language barrier!! We tried hard and so did they!! To our dismay, no outdoor restaurants for pastry and wine!

Hope this helps! Have fun!

My Signature Philly is a city where Eagles are the topic of all conversations all year.Meals consists of Yuengling, cheesesteaks, soft pretzels, & Tasty Kakes. Its where there's a Wawa on every corner & you look forward to the 1st day of Spring when Rita's gives out free "wooder" ice.Its where you know its the shore not the beach & a hoagie not a sub.Its where you know sprinkles as jimmies. Outsiders will never understand!.....

GRENADA: The only excursion we've ever taken there was the "Party Boat & Beach" which we totally enjoyed. Fun ride and rather nice beach! It was on the Rhum Runner Party Boat!

MARTINIQUE: Our favorite was (took 3 or 4 times) the Calapso which was a combo -- informative tour via water, beach, and party boat. Don't think it's offered any longer, though!

Our last time we did a catamaran and beach excursion (ship's excursion) which was fine -- not outstanding!

A good while back (our girls were with us) we went to the rainforest (ship's excursion). Worth seeing if you like rainforest. Much better than the one in San Juan,P.R.

Have been in town before/after excursions .... Would not find enough to do to spend the entire day there.

St.Vincent: Have been trying to get information on things to do here as well! We've only been there once and that was a while back. We went to Trinity Falls. A brief report is on this very board:
