There aren't many steps up to the platform where the sky ride picks you up.
Well you did not ride the same one I did then! There were at least 30 at both the top and the bottom, I just wish I had counted them as it sure seemed there were more as seen here http://www.paradisepointtramway.com/schedule.html

I'm hoping to squeeze this in on my next cruise. Thanks for all the info! We are planning to get over to St. John early in the day and then take the Skyride before getting back on the ship. Here's hoping we have time!
Didn't count the number of stairs, but I'll put it this way, it's a god awful lot of steps. The elderly or weak kneed better not try this self tour.
Ken, (or anyone) I hope you're still subscribed to this thread!! We are thinking of taking this tour on our Crown Princess cruise. However, we both have bad knees!! Based on this description of the tour from Princess do you know if we would have to climb all those stairs? It sounds like we would be on a bus to the top??
Board an open-air safari bus or air-conditioned mini-van and travel Skyline Drive with views of nearby St. John, the British Virgin Islands, and the harbor of Charlotte Amalie nestled below. Stop at Mountain Top, the highest point on the island, to enjoy views of Magens Bay — rated by the National Geographic Society as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Take some time to browse through the stores located at Mountain Top. Board the skyride to Paradise Point for the eight-minute ride to the top, located 700-feet above sea level. Enjoy commanding views of the harbor and your ship while enjoying a refreshing beverage. There is plenty of time to browse the shops and see a variety of tropical parrots at Paradise Point before riding the skyride back to your transportation and returning to the ship.
Thanks!!
Janet

Ditto on Alpha Kitty, I want to go to St John also, but this sounds like an adventure. Since were planning another cruise next year to St. Thomas if we don't have time to do this no problem there's always next time. Oh it sure looks like we'll have to walk up those steps.

We did this again in December and I still think there aren't that many stairs. At the top and the bottom, it's basically walking up 2 flights of stairs-equivalent to 1 deck on a cruise ship. Maybe an extra half flight.

There are many steps as I stated in the post you quoted, from the ground level up to the platform where you board the tram. If your knees are bad, and you really want to go, take your time. You can look and see when you get there.
