Well, I am in discussion on another site about this, it seems there is no need to book a trip through the ship, it is easy (& cheaper!) to get a cab to Red Hook then a ferry to St. John, do what you want there (suggestions please for a 2/3 hour visit), then reverse procedure. Any thought??

John, if we want to spend all day in St.John we do the Red Hook Ferry. This involves a taxi to Red Hook, taking the ferry, and another taxi when we get to St.John.

When we want to only be there for a half day, we take a 4 1/2 hour tour offered by the ship because no time is lost and it's lots more convenient.

What does the cab cost to get to Red Hook? Do you find this more convenient than just taking the ferry from Charlotte Amalie?
